The next couple of days are kinda busy. My mom's in town, and I'm getting together with her. I have to send out some new orders (as of today, every single pre-order, new order, and dealer order I've got is out, so if you don't get your CD in the next couple of days, PLEASE e-mail me). Laundry Day, Garbage Day... all kindsa mundanity.

One bit of amazing. I was on Dr. Demento last night. The Doctor said some very, very nice things about me -- that I'm "one of our great wordsmiths today", and my songs are "very clever", and that he was inspired to do last night's "pirate"-themed show because of hearing me do TLAPD at conventions -- for which I am flattered, humbled, and grateful.

Open thread. Have fun, play nice.

I'm about to be away from my postal mail for a week, so if mine is lost or delayed I won't know 'til next weekend.

Dancing rodents on the Demented praise. :-)

Yes, it is.

Tom Fenton, formerly of Ice Nine, and now with The Fibs, has had airplay and mention with their song "I'll Be Down To See You In The Fallout Shelter". We had a nice conversation last year at OVFF.

Shame that there are no stations near me that carry the good Doctor. :-(

None near me, either, since WIQB quit carrying it a few years back. I pick up any of several stations that have streaming audio; last night it was KOZT-FM out of Fort Bragg, CA. They run the show at 9:00 PST (12:00 midnight EST). (http://www.kozt.com/)

Well done, Demento-wise! I hope you mother has heard it. Moms love to hear their children praised, whether or not they "get" the child's art form.

They don't play Dr. D. in Los Angeles, since his original home station went to a "smooth jazz" format year ago and none of the gazillion other radio stations clogging the airwaves here will deign to pick up the show. Ironic in a not-good way. He's not making plans to uplink to any Satellite radio service or anything, is he?

You done good, Tom!

I got They Say I've Got Talent this weekend at Windycon, and... wow. I suppose most people here had already downloaded the pre-release version, but I haven't gotten into the MP3 thing, so I was waiting for the real pressed album.

I got my CD in the mail ... Saturday, I think. Haven't gotten chance to listen to the actual disk object (not as much of a rush since I have the mp3s ;-) Anyway, it got here safely.

I really need to record an album so that I can put some of the Dr. Demento-playable stuff on it. Dysfunctional (did you ever hear the original version of it? The only hint of who I wrote it for got cut out because it wasn't as strong of a verse), Stick with the Women, and the Oh-My-God incredibly rude one that I haven't finished and it's already set selected people howling. ;-)

That's super-great news about your praise from the Good Doctor! Glad to hear it and congrats. I was thinking about trying to catch the show last night but ended up being otherwise engaged.

I think I was at the first Mi con that you had talked into having Dr Demento as a guest. There was this amazing interaction during your concert between you and Dr Demento. It was amazing watching you watching Dr Demento who was you perform. I remember the faces in the audience and your face. I have no idea what you sang.

We loved it. When I pulled that CD out of my mailbox, one of my friends (and fellow fan) actually squeaked with glee. She knew that there was an extra track, and she adores HotB already.

We ran upstairs (five flights!), stuck it into the CD player, and listened away. We've played it a few times already, and we still really enjoy the juxtoposition. Reminds me a little of Walking Along the Beach in that respect. Sonogstory versus Songsound. Always fun.

My respect for the good Doctor just increased--and I didn't know that was possible at this point. He's still got it. ;)

Oh, and speaking of "got it"--so do you. And so do I--or at least my CD copy of it.

Thank you for another great album, Tom!
