Testosterone time.

O ye of little entertainment lately on WWE, hie thee doon to Best Buy, wherein you have to shimmy thy hips around the kiosks filled with White Chicks and Elf, but ah! Thou canst find The Rise + Fall of ECW, capturing for posterity six hours of documentary which doth amaze and action which kicketh ass. And lo! The Best Buy version comes with a Rob Van Dam action figure.

For those of a less violent bent, The Iron Giant Special Edition is out, too. :)

I have not. I'm getting cranky at the USPS right about now. I did order one didn't I? That's how I got the download, isn't it?

They are all out, except for one order on hold for another reason. If you haven't got it by Friday, let me know.

(Kinda funny, innit, that, on the thread wherein I shill for one of the most violent wrestling DVDs ever, I'm waaaaay more disgusted by that talentless hack Barry Blair.)

Well, then I guess I ain't been a real man since Fantasy Quarterly, 'cause I was in at the ground floor. And, frankly, any real man who doesn't read Elf*Quest is missing out on some of the best damn pin-up art in comics.

I mean... Leetah.

In the nightgown.

Kah-mon.

I realized, as I was posting, that Blair had done some later issues of Elf*Quest. Which is what I suppose you were referring to. No, no, no. It's Wendy Pini's baby. All the best issues are hers. Blair cold just crank out stuff in a flat, listless, lifeless version approximating her drawing style, is all. No, he's a hack who likes pedophilia, vampirism, and badly-designed manga-derived talking-head (or, really, talking-medium-shot-everyone-in-the-same-stiff-pose-even-in-fight-scenes) faux soap operas.

And if he's reading this... Blair, you're a hack.

The site you link to is apparently Firefox-hostile. I get a page that tells me I have to enable cookies in my browser -- but I don't have them disabled. Thus, I cannot find out exactly what this ECW is, though the clues from context are that I don't really want to.

Ummm... I'm using FireFox myself, and don't have any special settings for bestbuy.com. I linked directly to their pages for the specific DVDs.

Briefly, ECW is/was Extreme Championship Wrestling. If you're not a wrestling fan, you don't want to know. If you are a wrestling fan, you already do, and you need to have this.

Maybe it was just a hiccup, I tried the link again and it worked this time.

Not a wrestling fan, in any case.

... I was going to make a clever and cute reply, but you're actually on target with all of these. Sigh. Still, it is an amazing piece of work, and has several great matches on the second disk, including the one where Tazz and Bam Bam went through the ring, and the RVD/Jerry Lynn "five more minutes" match (previously available on Extreme Evolution).

Hey, just be thankful you got someone on your friends list who doesn't think wrestling is solely the domain of those who's family tree runs straight up.

No, NASCAR usurped THAT honor LONG ago

Actually, it should have been "wherein thou must shimmy thy hips" or perhaps "wherein it behoovest thee to shimmy thy hips." You lapsed into second person plural there for a second, which amuses the hell out of me when I hear Protestant ministers do it while trying to pray aloud spontaneously. (And this has been the only time you have *ever* reminded me of a Protestant minister.)

(Also, "the Best Buy version cometh." I can't help it. It's an occupational hazard.)

And, so as not to be left out in the cold (ha ha)...

The Iron Giant is still a damn fine piece of work. If Vin Diesel never did anything again, he'd still always have this to be proud of.
