A reminder that John Kerry is still a Senator: As he promised during the presidential campaign, he intends to introduce a bill that would guarantee health care for every child in America.

Thing is, he doesn't want co-sponsors from the Senate floor.

Click here to sign the petition and join, we hope, hundreds of thousands of others in telling Dubya to actually do something good, noble, and useful.

If he passes this... I'll forgive him.

Don't expect him to pass it while Congress is controlled by Republicans. These fucktards spent the past two years refusing to allow Democrats to even read proposed bills until minutes before a scheduled vote. Why do you think they'll even put this up for a committee hearing?

We don't HAVE a government.

And about Kerry having money left over--not your post, but the one below--it was probably a good idea to save a little in reserve in case of lawyers and recounts and endless post-election-day maneuvering.

Look over there--it's the Republicans ruining everything. Let's concentrate on bashing the ones who are busily being THE problem, and not the guys on our side whose big sin has been being too weak to stand up to them, OK?

We've been bashing the folks who've been the problem for four years now. It doesn't seem to have helped all that much. That's not to say we shoud stop bashing them, but I think Kerry's onto something here.

Sign the petition. Let him introduce his bill with as many signatures as he can. Let every Republican who fights it have to face re-election with Democrats running footage of them opposing health care for children, even with umpteen of their own constitutents wanting it.

I don't know if I can forgive him for having that much money left over at the end of the game. He could have easily spent 10 million more dollars in October and maybe have won the race.....

Well, I would, only my zip isn't coded.

I'm assuming this is a US-only deal? 'Cause if not, hand me that pen.

Sorry to be a downer, but what evidence is there that Bush will listen to any opinion other than his own (as repeated back to him by his advisors), gives a single expletive about poor children, or feels he has to listen to a bunch of people who don't constitute a corporation? I mean, go ahead and express your opinion, but at this point, don't expect it to make any difference.

If voting for Kerry didn't work, why would signing a petition have any effect?

On the other hand, I've always admired Don Quixote. And yes, I'm subject to wide mood swings. Tomorrow morning I may be emailing all my friends and telling them how to get on board with this issue.

Don't really expect it to, but at least I will be on record. And I've been feeling a bit quixotic lately anyway.
