I HATE remakes, there is too much original material out there dying to be made into films.

IF they need to do a remake, pick something that was an interesting idea, but flawed somehow in its original presentation.

There are MANY MANY films that just DO Not need to be remade. And no matter how much I love Steve Martin and Kevin Kline, the "Pink Panther" is NOT a film that needed to be remade, PERIOD!

I dunno. Trailers don't count for much, but what they show looks like a pretty faithful reproduction of the original spirit. Rub off the rosy tint of nostalgia, and they look pretty similar.

The original Pink Panther movies rode the fine line between utter idiocy and comedy genius. Often enough, even Mr. Sellers fell on the wrong side of that line. I won't be at all surprised if this crew fails to do the same balacing act.

I always thought it was because I was British, but I've never found Steve Martin as funny as I expected him to be. The magnificent "Roxanne" excepted.

I think he's a gifted performer on all levels, but he's occasionally made some ehh movies. On the other hand, All Of Me is one of my favorite comedies, and one of the only "physical" comedy movies I really like. And his albums and books are surreal.

He also plays a mean banjo.
