But don't you see. This way a) King Jorge doesn't have to hear the protests and b) he can point to the frustrated protesters and say "see, they're violent and irrational!"
I was able to watch the big protest from where I work (in Seattle). The protesters were only allowed to have signs that had no sticks on them etc. I suppose the city was afraid of riots like they had for WTO and after the Rodney King trials. The award for the best sign of the day should have gone to the person whose sign read "George Bush is a Poopyhead" There were tons of "Not My President" signs and what not. I did see news crews out, but I didnt see bunches of folks turning their backs.
