Okay, let me see if I get this right:

1. Pick 13 movies that you enjoy.
2. Pick a line of dialog that you like.
3. As people guess the film, strike out that entry
4. When someone guesses correctly, italicize the quote and put the movie title after it, with credit to the first correct guesser.
5. NO cheating!!! That means NO: Google, IMDb, etc.!!!

Kewl. So, mechanically, I didn't handle it quite as written. Big yip. And, here are all the correct first guessers and the un-struck-out lines:
  1. Now you'll have to marry me! -- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ([livejournal.com profile] vixyish)
  2. I hope to do better still. Have you seen his backhand? It's terrible! -- The Seven Per Cent Solution ([livejournal.com profile] trektone)
  3. Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb. -- Batman (1966) ([livejournal.com profile] aiela)
  4. Your legs look like seaweed. -- Circle of Iron ([livejournal.com profile] kengr)
  5. Well, it turns out I've got a rose garden. -- The American President ([livejournal.com profile] jkb)
  6. One minute you're standing in the wings... and the next minute you're wearin' 'em. -- Movie Movie ([livejournal.com profile] shsilver)
  7. Am I in bed? 'Cause, if I'm in bed... the springs are shot. -- The Goodbye Girl ([livejournal.com profile] miari)
  8. Actually, it's more of a guideline than a rule. -- Ghostbusters ([livejournal.com profile] shsilver)
  9. Love to prove that, wouldn't you? Get your name into the National Geographic. -- Jaws ([livejournal.com profile] jkb)
  10. Not now -- I'm too tired. Maybe later. -- Escape From New York ([livejournal.com profile] admnaismith)
  11. You are so mercifully free of the ravages of intelligence. -- Time Bandits ([livejournal.com profile] knitmeapony)
  12. GET OFF MY HOOD! -- The Great Race ([livejournal.com profile] erikthemage)
  13. Hey, Joe, bring me a tarantula! -- Singin' In The Rain ([livejournal.com profile] roane)
Special Free Bonus Line That Everyone Should Get:
  • The Force is with you, young Skywalker... but you are not a Jedi yet.

5 is The American President -- one of my faves. :)

9 is Jaws

8 is driving me nuts, because I can just hear it in my head, but I can't remember where it's from. But I know I've seen it. Aargh!

You're all doing so well! I'm delighted, and more delighted that a few of 'em are giving you a tough time, so you'll go check out the flicks.

Here are a very few vague hints:

#2 is, in its way, fanfic.
#4 is the one you likely haven't seen, but it's got the Cameo Cast From Hell.
#7 was delivered by that year's Oscar winner.

They're very similar. I was actually going to pick another line from Ghostbusters, but when I hit that one I had to take it, precisely because of the Pirates confusion factor.

2 sounds a lot like the Rocky Horror Picture Show audience participation routine. (And the instructions don't say that the "line of dialog" has to be from the on-screen actors (etc.) of the movie, so you're just evil enough to have it be from the audience, at that.)

I Certainly AM That Evil, But....

Date: 2005-01-26 08:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] filkertom.livejournal.com
Nope. And, I'm playing fair -- I either played the DVD, or verified the line through an IMDB Quotes page, if I happened not to have the movie.

To get specific, it was from when he is drunk off his butt and collapses on the floor. He is drunk because he got a terrible review as an actor (though it was the nutjob director's fault) and is trying to "kill the bastard".

A better line though, in my opinion, goes something to the effect of:
If your face was a musical, people would be humming your smile
or something like that, it's been a few months since I last saw it.
