The bf is off to the High School Basketball Finals in Lansing, so we're doing corned beef next week. Mmm, corned beef. Followed by days and days of corned beef and swiss sandwiches, grilled, on rye. Yum.

We did Corned Beef and Cabbage last night. I'm saving up my allotment of drink for this weekend at Dorsai Thing in New Orleans.

AHHhh.. The D.I. and New Orleans.. Two Great Things That Go Great Together!

Utterly off-topic -- I just found out exactly how much of a geek I am. I saw this headline at Yahoo News:

Bush Names Portman Trade Representative (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&ncid=703&e=6&u=/ap/20050317/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_trade_representative)

and I thought: "Natalie? Sh-yeah, she did such a good job for Naboo...."

Nonsense, sir. You've known exactly how much of a geek you are for years.

Going out to a local Irish pub with friends tonight. Should be fun-we're all underage, so no drinking. People-watching should be good tonight.

Using this icon today because it's got some green. ^^

mallratting with my boyfriend and one of my best friends and avoiding louisville's insane irish population and the drunkenness that ensues. mourning the loss last year of my local out-of-the-way irish pub. and going to cunningham's during my dinner break tomorrow because it's just down the street from work and has corned beef and cabbage year round, and the crowds will be gone so i can eat in peace. then a guiness when i get home from work.
and i just realized i am WAY too cranky for someone who only turns 23 next month. i feel older than that, like i missed a birthday or ten somewhere. *sigh*
anyway, happy st. pat's!

And, presumably, yourself won't be after hoisting a tankard of that well-known Irish drink, Three O'Seven. Or should that be Seven O'Nine?

My goodness...who knew the Borg were Irish?

When Irish Borg are smilin',
They've assimilated Spring.
In her lycra, Jeri Ryan
Sure can make the angels sing.
When Irish Borg are happy,
Our defense plans went astray,
And when Irish Borg are smiling,
Then it's time to run away!

Last night, I told my favorite manager, James which beer to choose, after his brother noted that he never bought beer before, and didn't have his kind picked out yet. I eventually walked over to the liquor section, put back his six-pack of Killian Light and said "Ok, James, I'd recommend either Amber Bock or Guinness." and he chose Guinness, 'cause he'd never had it before.

I just hope James doesn't hate me this morning, 'cause his brother did say he doesn't normally drink...

And yeah, I'm gettin' Guinness tonight, and chillin' at home after work... despite the fact that I work across the street from a fairly popular Irish pub, and it is my first St. Patty's day as a legal drinker. *reconsiders...* Eh, it'll prolly depend on how busy the pub is, and how tired I am after work.

Goin' to the annual St. Patrick's Day party at the law office of Hochbaum, Eng, Rosta & Connelley. Guess which lawyer was responsible for having the party there, eh? My guitar-playing friend and I usually go there and crank out several songs about drinking and rebellion, throw back a few shots of Tully, and generally behave as expected.

Gearin' up for the Reinforcin' O' the Stereotypes....

I like the idea of "heritage appreciation days" where everybody appreciates their neighbors and the fun parts like the food and drink. I'm not Irish for St. Pat's, I'm not Mexican for Cinco de Mayo either but that does not preclude me from joining in the fun!

Got a SCA business meeting tonight at a discreetly damp site, so I think I will bring the coffee, suitably Tullified. And green taco chips.

Be careful of eating too much green food coloring today folks; your poop will look "interesting" in a day or two. Don't ask me how I know this.

Heh. I'm recovering from a gastrointestinal illness, and just getting back on solid food. I may splurge and have mashed potatoes for dinner.
