Well, the phone keeps ringing -- including at least two people who saw my LJ and know what's going on :-7 -- but that's okay. The mental breaks have been fun. I'm gonna try and keep going a little while before I get some sleep. Meantime, here are the titles and lyrics I've got at 9:30 pm EDT:

What If... *I* Were The Superhero? -- done
Mad Scientists United (Awful Bloody) -- done
The Sinister Cavortings of Sir Wilfred P. Huffelbaggins III -- done
Warning: Wimbledon! -- done
The Sinister Sixty Strike! -- in progress, but might possibly end up an instrumental w/shtick
Enter the Waffle -- done
You Never Even Call Me By My (Real) Name -- in progress
The Boulevard of Broken Genes -- done
Tears of the Kill-O-Tron
Pirate Ninjas from Dino Island
The Terror of Sis Boom Ba
The Romance of George and Al
A Million Light-Years From Love -- done
Divided Royalties -- done
Behold the Crossing Guard -- done
When Strikes The Clock -- in progress
Rules Of Enragement -- in progress
The Rise And Fall Of Sir Wilfred P. Huffelbaggins III
Hey, Didn't You Die?
With Great Power Comes Great Power Bills

And, yes, frighteningly enough, there is a plot. I actually think it's a pretty good plot.

Update of the Update: I think I slept a bit too long last night, but I really needed it. And things are humming along, as well as human torches, invisible women, and misters fantastic.

Tom, I've been meaning to ask you this. (Buying your cd is a given with me...I have them all so far...hee) But the question is, do you know of anyone who is writing Angel/Buffy filk and actually going to record it?

I know Luke Ski's got a little -- "If you want to be a Slayer" (can't remember what album it's on) and the delightful throwaway in "Fanboy Christmas": "Angel, you're a studly guy / Watch out, girls, he'll suck you dry." Apart from that, no clue.

Drat. Don't these filkers know there are those of us out here with no talent except listening that want Angel/Buffy filk. Long suffering sigh is being issued here. ;)

Yes, "Wannabe A Slayer" (Buffy) and "I Am A Vamp Of Constant Sorrow" (Angel) as well as vinettes about Buffy and Angel in "It's A Fanboy Christmas" are all on my CD "Uber Geek". You can hear sound bites from them and find out how to obtain the album at http://www.lukeski.com

Coming in June on my next CD "Unconventional", my "FireFly" song "A Man Named Jayne".

A group called the Brobdingnagian Bards ( http://www.thebards.net ) have an Angel song on their next CD. I saw them last week at I-CON (NY) and they were saying that its going to the duplicator in a couple of weeks...

Not quite Angel/Buffy filk but close: ONCE MORE WITH HOBBITS, a fully-scripted Lord of the Rings/Buffy The Vampire Slayer Musical. Two of the songs are downloadable: REST IN PEACE with Saruman and Gandalf; STANDING with Samwise Gamgee.

And if Tom's HEAT OF THE BLOOD cannot be retrofitted easily to the relationship between Buffy and Angel/Angelus, I will eat my hat.

I wouldn't want you to eat your hat because then I'd have to eat mine. I thought the same thing.

The really fun part of that was, believe it or not, the male part in that song was the only male villain who wasn't a vampire. However, the plot has diverged in my head, and I'm pretty sure he's gonna be one. It's complicated.

Eleven songs done, four part-done, five more besides, three-forty to go....

Now I've got the old "Oliver North" song in my brain, with "Go... Go Tommy go!" in the repeating refrain.

I'm pushin' at it. Got a little sleep, may try to get a little more. But this is frickin' fun, and it's much larger both in scope and in individual song length than last year.

I have to agree that With Great Power Comes Great Power Bills sounds like a Wonderful Idea. As does Hey, Didn't You Die?

Dunno. I originally hoped to, but now I want to make absolutely sure I get it right. It's still the taking-suggestions-to-improv gimmick, and the arrangements aren't going to be too deep in any case, but this ain't knock-off work. I'm already pretty proud of a lot of what I've done so far.

Rock on!!!!

WOO-HOO!! At long last, after years of being stuck with one-dimensional stereotype-reinforcing bit parts, a waffle will be cast as a HERO in a concept album!

I am honored that you have chosen two of my stupid suggestions for your album. I look forward to finding out what the hell rhymes with "Huffelbaggins."
