This is cool: a website that "visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator". You can set it for any of ten countries, or for all ten if you wish, and it'll give you an idea of the proportion of news coverage given to different stories. The difference between, say, the U.S. and Germany is pretty compelling.
