I loved the first one, and I'm really delighted they're sequeling it. Zorro needs to ride again-he's too nifty not to.

YES! The first film was great and vastly underrated. I saw it about 3-4 times.

The flaming Z is one of my favorite scenes.

Plus, with Anthony Hopkins AND Antonio Banderas, it was easy to get my female friends to go.

Oh, this is wonderful news! The first movie was such fun, and this one looks promising as well. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are easily two of the most beautiful people in existence. I mean, seriously, what woman *didn't* want to be her in the tango scene?

Thanks for the link :)

The ones who wanted to be him, of course. (Not to mention, those of us who couldn't decide. I guess I'll just have to think about it a little longer...)

Mmm, this is true. I don't normally swing that way, but for her... I just might.

"Si, seNor. Eet ees the nombair two."

Not sure how I feel about a sequel. The idea of anybody but Diego de La Vega running around in the mask, torch-passing or no, seems a bit off.

That being said...mmm, this could be fun.

Ahhh, thank you. My favorite line in Zorro, The Gay Blade.

I'm champing at the bit for it. I love the first one, and thought they did a very good torch-passing job, especially considering it was technically the first film in the franchise.... ;)

Thanks for reminding me of a movie that I need to have in my swashbucklers collection. Probably one of the best of the genre from the last 10 years or so. (I do know that there are very few of the genre in the last 10 years, but hey)

I do have to brag about the Errol Flynn box set that I got a couple weeks ago. HIGHEST recommendation since it contains two of the greatest swashbuckler films of all time, The Sea Hawk and of course the incomparable Captain Blood.

I hate you.

Between moving and (no)budget, i can not even let myself realize that set exists right now...and you *own* it.

I hate you.

*huggs* :)

I grew up on Zorro, the Gay Blade -- a fine way to instill a sense of the absurd in a child, not to mention an appreciation for cross-dressing.

"His clothes are bold / His mind uncanny,
Give him your gold / Or he'll whip your fanny!"

Dagnabbit, I hate it when someone beats me to the punch line!

That being said... I'm waiting with bated breath for this film. I want to see how they follow up that fencing-foreplay scene, mmmmmWOW!

Any kid with a vulpine surname knows well the Legend of Zorro!
