Date: 2005-05-24 02:29 am (UTC)gah. that is...too cool.
lessee, collectibles i'd go nuts over...i don't know if these are actually available, because i don't want to be driven mad by the temptation, but the orb of Thesula from buffy'd be a damned nifty collectible. or, in a more probable light, the "Myth Adventures" graphic novels by phil foglio. because dude. robert asprin was the first sci-fi author i read, and what a wonderful world he's led me into...

Date: 2005-05-24 02:41 am (UTC)There are some experimental Charles Schultz original Peanuts up right now, with adults in them. The face of Linus' teacher. I'd love those. There are also some Disneyworld anniversary items up right now that are spectacular.
And there were some Firefly items up at one point. Any of the above, hehe.

Just about any of the main characters swords from LoTR would be nice to hang on the wall.

Date: 2005-05-24 03:33 am (UTC)Kubrick wanted to be able to film from HAL's POV but didn't want to do two shots, he loved natural reactions from his actors so didn't want them doing it again. So they gave HAL a cool look by using the Panavision lens exposed and they could run multi camera for the scenes of Dave and Frank talking to HAL.
I stopped following he bidding when it past $15,000.
I'm a HUGE 2001 fan, not for the least of reasons that I saw it with my Dad and My Uncle.. and My name's DAVE and my Dad's name is HAL (no my Uncle's name isn't Frank.. it was Malcolm).

Date: 2005-05-24 04:00 am (UTC)I can't really think of anything else. Maybe a prop from The Dark Crystal

Date: 2005-05-24 04:37 am (UTC)If I didn't totally hate the idea of spending so much money on something frivolous, I would be bidding.
I don't do collectibles any more. I should probably sell off my old Trek collectibles. I don't know what I would go nuts over, except anything else from Babylon 5. I would love to practice my taekwondo staff form with a *real* Minbari fighting pike. :)

Date: 2005-05-24 06:09 am (UTC)I'm a costume nut with no actual budget or time for sewing, so my collectible wish-list would tend towards things like G'Kar's patchwork leather coat, one of Londo's outfits, or David Bowie's entire wardrobe from Labyrinth. No idea if any of that is available, aside from the fact that the Bowie clothes have probably gotten a bit ratty by now. Since this is fantasy, I can pretend that all this would somehow be magically resized for a 5'1" frame.

Date: 2005-05-24 09:04 am (UTC)Hmmm... thinking of what I'd try to get is a little silly, I mostly just go for wacky costume stuff myself (that Jareth comment further up is a great idea, though I'd probably want to stay away from the tights for sanitary reasons *rimshot*).

Date: 2005-05-24 09:39 am (UTC)But the top slot #1 item is the FULL SIZED X-WING FIGHTER !!
I mean, geeze! Can you get better? With a bit of work it'd even fly!
[seriously, the X wings are functional aerofoils apparently]

Date: 2005-05-25 12:14 pm (UTC)and I miss you. Is it Friday yet? Had to compromise with one of the moms so we're leaving around noon instead of three. See you there!

Date: 2005-05-25 02:30 pm (UTC)And... isn't leaving around noon good, i.e., you'll be there earlier?

Date: 2005-05-25 06:06 am (UTC)Funny you should mention, a friend and I were just talking about what movie memorabilia we'd most love to have. He wanted one of the puppet armatures from the original 'King Kong'.
I want most of all one of the models of the Martian ships used in the George Pal 'War of the Worlds'. One has to be around somewhere.
If I can't have that, then, oh, lemme think... I'll take the 'Manos' manipulator arm button used in MST3K: The Movie, or one of the electrode guns from Plan Nine, or a HAL-9000 faceplate. Now, if space isn't a consideration, I'll bend the rules and request a TV prop: one of the TARDIS control consoles, with of course a police box to stand next to it.
