Home from MarCon
May. 30th, 2005 08:31 amHome again, home again, jiggety jig. And... frickin' wow.
Even though I ended up being extremely tired through most of it (my own fault, I had that durn preview CD-R to finish, but it was worth it), this year's MarCon was a blast and a half. The list of Many, Many Thanks To... is long, and certainly incomplete:
I love the hell out of you all.
Even though I ended up being extremely tired through most of it (my own fault, I had that durn preview CD-R to finish, but it was worth it), this year's MarCon was a blast and a half. The list of Many, Many Thanks To... is long, and certainly incomplete:
- Con Chair Kim Williams, Filk Coordinator Trace Hagemann, Guest Liaison Gloria Can'trememberherlastname, Melissa Glasser and her husband Dan, and everyone else with the con and with the hotel
- Larry Niven and Steve Jackson, for their kindness and friendship
- Animal X, for advanced costume wizardry and just deigning to breathe around us heterosexual males
- all of you who were there at the party Friday, at the concert and open filk Saturday
- the exquisite Judy Miller, who interpreted my concert wonderfully in American Sign Language, and only got messed up once briefly during "Five Years" (I loff dooink dat to herr)
- my darlings
dubheach and
sylverwolfe and
janet_coburn and
surakofb5 and
braider and Juanita and Barry & Sally and Bill & Brenda and Moonwolf and John and Kevin for god's sake Dockery and Christy & Pat (& George & Grant) and Chris and Ray and Larry & Sally and Yonni and
billroper and
daisy_knotwise and so many others (and apologies to the ones I didn't get to speak to, but I will catch you next time, I promise) - The Great Luke Ski, who joined me onstage for "Cthulhu Fthagn"
- Ookla the Mok, for general kewlness and for the great signage at the dealer's room table we shared (and Debbie and Kelly, who helped us at the table)
- Fandom in general and MarCon in particular, just for being the kind of place where, as
huskiebear put it, "you can see a moon rock and then go ten feet and see the Batmobile"
huskiebear and Anne, who keep me sane, who shared with me one of the biggest weekends of my life
I love the hell out of you all.

Date: 2005-05-31 11:48 am (UTC)No, thank YOU Mr. Acavanoooo...
Date: 2005-05-30 07:04 pm (UTC)By the way, if you get a moment between now and DucKon, please check your merch & table supplies from the weekend for a white plastic bag that contains about 6 "Carpe Dementia" t-shirts. They went missing, so I'm hoping somehow you accidentally have them, and that they didn't walk off with anybody else. Also, I still owe you $20 for the "Saving Star Wars" DVD, which I'll pay you at DucKon, if that's okay. Will the complete version of 24HCD2 be ready for DucKon? Just curious.
Again, eternal thanks.
PS: The first person who posts here correctly identifying the film from which my Subject line came from will be sent a free copy of my "May The Farce Be With You" Star Wars comedy compilation CD. >:)

Date: 2005-05-31 09:53 am (UTC)We all go to cons for a lot of the same reasosn. It's kinda like Spider Robinson said, more or less, in The Callahan Touch: First thing someone who's weird needs is a place where they don't make you feel weird.

Date: 2005-05-31 09:59 am (UTC)And I get to see you again at Duck! That's gonna kick ass.
Re: Dock -- good lord. I can't even fathom him going out with you. I mean, I know why he'd want to -- same reasons we all did, you glorious wench, you, hubba hubba....

Date: 2005-05-31 11:49 am (UTC)Hee. I adore you. Believe me, I needed that right now. I've gained back all of the 54 pounds I lost when we were on the road. Grad school, combined with other stressors apparently is not good for me, that combined with not being able to make any of the WW meetings. Oy. Oh well. I'll do it again but it sure is annoying. sigh... and I hardly am feeling glorious. I shall try to get regular "hubba hubba" fixes at Duckcon from you! Grin.

Date: 2005-05-31 05:28 pm (UTC)Of course, this now means I need to get to as many of your concerts as possible to get another fix. (Didn't know you were addictive, did you?)
Hugs
