... but even I am a little startled by this one:

Your Expression Number is 11
You tend to be associated with idealistic concepts and spiritual issues.
You have high potentials that are somewhat difficult to live up to.
You have very strong intuition and you can be a bit psychic at times.

Highly inspirational, you can lead merely by your own example.
You have an inborn inner strength and awareness that helps you advise others.
Although you have what it takes for a successful career, you belong outside the business world.

Overly sensitive and temperamental, you tend to have a lot of nervous tension.
You dream a lot, so much so that you may be more of a dreamer than a doer.
Fantasy and reality tend to get intermingled for you, and that leads to impracticality.

Update: I do have to mention that I know this is indeed a cold reading. It just got me where I lived, is all, which is kinda the point. For much more information, just check out any of these links.

Mine was also scarily accurate. Very intersting.

Oh, we finally picked up "And They Say I've Got Talent" at Baycon over the weekend. Great CD. I've got Talk Like a Pirate Day stuck in my head.

... but even I am a little startled by this one:

OK, I know
I've told you the story about my critical thinking class in college ("Biomedical Science and the Art of Humbug" - best undergrad class I ever took) where the professor gave us all our "personalized" astrological personality descriptions and had us rank them 1-10 for accuracy. The class average was about 8-9 - pretty striking. He then had us trade papers with our neighbors to reveal that every one had the exact same description. We see what we want to see, especially if most of the descriptors are good or noble traits.

The amazing Randi did the same thing on a Nova episode once. It's a great show, called "Secrets of the Psychics", you should check it out.

Heh. When I put my first and last name in, it didn't particularly match. When I added my middle name, I got the same sort of scarily-accurate result you did. :-)

Played with this one, these things are such fun. My maiden name gave me an 11 as well, I found it fairly good. But my married name gave me an 8 which was WAY of the map. Leaving out my middle name on the possibilites gave me a 6 and a 3. Why I ask my self am I doing this a almost 4 in the morning?

Freaky, I got the exact same reading. I agree with it, but only on a bare level as in I know what a cold reading is and this is the coldest. HA Really, I would wager that I could read any of the bits they have written and find some part of myself that fits. One of my favorite exercises with students is to get them to cut out the horoscopes in the paper, number them, mix them up and then try to predict which one goes to their horoscope.

and then I wonder

My paranoid side says that the authors of these quizes are really just collecting names. You know if you play with it and you have the same address then they can determine things about you....

I ended up with a 6, and, it is scarily accurate too :)
