I presume that the current holders of the rights were justly compensated.

On further thought, forget the rentiers: just compensation is rather impossible in this case, isn't it? Poor Gene.

The copyright notice was first. Yeah, they got paid.

Anyone who could have as much fun as he did dancing with a cartoon mouse probably would've enjoyed the hell out of this. (Though he might have been disappointed that they didn't just ask him to dance the new choreography, had he been alive.)

Damn, now I just wanna sit and watch the Weapon of Choice video again...but I've already spent too much time farting around at work today.

Then you probably haven't seen the stick-figure version, either....

And he would have done it, too. You've seen him on The Muppet Show, no?

I probably did at the time, but I'm having a senior moment today and can't remember it.

[Mad icon love, btw. He will make such a good Chief of Staff in the Santos White House....]

They just wanted him to reenact that number, but he didn't want to. In typical Muppet fashion, they had a hard time even getting him on stage. But it all worked out and he wandered on the set at the end of the show and it was really cute. I heart Gene Kelly almost as much as I heart Fred Astaire.

(Thanks much! Although I'm more worried about CJ and Toby than anything else at this point.)

You know, I actually thought that was really, really neat until the last few seconds, when I realized it was an ad. I think I may be a snob. I've just been seeing a lot of really sophisticated fan projects lately, and I've been really impressed what a couple of dedicated people with the right software and a lot of time on their hands can do. Somehow it's much less impressive to realize that a car company's massive, massive budget is behind such a project.

I don't mind it so much. If you recall, Volkswagen was the company that did the very cool singing-along-with-"Mr.-Roboto" commercial

Ehh. It's cute. I think this one has style. As they say, different strokes... or, in this case, steps.

Nothing will ever top Cog, though: after all, there wasn't any CGI there.
