Isn't that extremely quick turnaround time? I mean, it's less than six months. And it's not like the movie was bad (while mileage varies, I grant, we're not talking about a flop here; besides, I loved it)...
They're going to cash in twice. I'll bet you the version released in November is the theatrical version which, as you mentioned, will allow them to cash in for the holidays. Then some time next spring they'll release the Ultra Super Secret Special Edition with 18 hours of extra footage and 7 alternate angles of Darth Vader going "Nnnooooooooooooooooo!"
I clicked the link and all that registered as the page loaded was "Sith out". I immediately started hearing an old disco song (http://www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/chic/le_freak.html) playing in my head: Ahhhh, Sith out!.
I'm still pissed Lucas changed the version in the DVD box set to match "his vision" than the one that I actually saw as a kid in the theaters... Damn Lucas and his revisionist history!
I just found out that Hot Waffles will be performing that song live on G4TV on Monday, August 8th. So if you get that channel set your VCR now. :) They're performing on a show called Attack Of The Show.
All we wanted was the original trilogy. I've still got mine on widescreen VCR, and eventually I will get the hardware and transfer the sumbitch to the highest possible quality files and give them away to anyone proven to have bought Lucas's DVDs so he can't bitch that I'm undercutting his market illegally.
Exactly. If the boxed set had the original trilogy, I would have gladly bought it. I won't buy it now nor will I ever buy it.

Date: 2005-07-27 05:34 pm (UTC)For what it's worth, it's possible to Just Say No: I still haven't seen "Sith", mainly because the last three or four Star Wars movies sucked so bad.
When the DVD comes out, I might borrow it from someone. Unless it slips my mind.
