I so have to agree with you. I'm beginning to wonder if anybody is actually writing anything at all in Hollywood (or New York, for that matter.)

OTOH, I would love to see Sister Act transformed (a la Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Hairspray and The Producers) into a Broadway (or Off-Broadway) musical. It is perfectly suited to the stage.

You must understand: I would loathe, if I could be bothered to work up that much indignation. She is, to me, a female Owen Wilson, the perfect example of what is wrong with "celebrity". As far as I have been able to determine, she has no talent doing anything whatsoever. Her "looks" are generic; her "personality" is nonexistent; her "acting skills" are indetectible.

And I don't mind the movie-to-Broadway reverse trend, as long as the shows do something new. The ones you mentioned do so. I still hold out hope for a direct-to-video of Assassins and Weird Romance, especially if the original casts aren't doing anything. And I would shell out pretty big bucks for a video of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, or the German stage version of Hunchback.

"You must understand: I would loathe..."

You were referring to Tea, and not Whoopie, weren't you, Tom? Please tell me you were...

That's how much I would-loathe her; I forgot to write her name. No, Whoopi's on my yeah-I'd-do-her list. Tea's on my drop-into-a-hole-pave-over-forget list.

Why? Because it is a previously proven property and these are two actperson with proven track records. Creativity is irrelevant. We will be assimilated... or maybe not. Vote with your wallet folks! Support independent films!

I'd never heard of the 1977 movie. I thought they were making a movie out of the kids' reading primer.

OTOH, while grepping at IMDB, I found "Dick and Jane Drop Acid and Die", which may or may not suck, but I like the title.
