1) Reply with your name and I'll respond with something random about you.
2) I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3) I'll pick a flavor/color of jello to wrestle with you in. (Maybe.)
4) I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5) I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6) I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7) I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8) If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. You MUST. It is written.
... Okay, I had a feeling this wasn't going to work out as advertised. But I'm having fun, and I hope you are as well. Forgive if my memory is fuzzy -- I meet a lot of folks, and am nowhere near as good with names and faces as I should be.

Date: 2005-08-03 02:21 pm (UTC)You have no idea who I am, anyway, so I might as well tell you something about myself.
I'm a 21 year old college student who lives in Ohio. I'm leaving in six weeks to go to the Art Institute of Seattle, leaving home for the first time, totally striking off on my own.
My parents met in the Canton Science Fiction book club, and I grew up listening to the likes of you, Michael Lonchor, Julia Ecklar, Leslie Fish, and Ookla the Mok.
I was raised in one of the most bigoted towns in Ohio (confederate flags everwhere, 3 rumoured groups of KKK), but I grew up knowing that it didn't matter the racial, sexual, or physical differences between people, because of Science Fiction.
My Mom and Dad went to OVFF every single year until I was 16 - and they'd always bring home those big bags of stuff with the plastic spider rings and plastic snakes - but they'd also bring home the tapes - much of them being your work.
... When Jim Henson passed away, we listened to a Boy and his Frog - and I (then 6 years old), asked my mother is Kermit was dead - and she said no. And the song was proof.
I listened to Superman Sex Life Boogie when I was 8, grooving in the car when my mom drove us to Pennsic. (We're in the SCA, too.)
My Dad sang us "I want to be Peter Lorre", and my sister (who is two years older then I) giggled our heads off - even though we didn't even know who Peter Lorre was.
So I didn't know if you even knew, but you've shaped people's lives. Mine, my sister's, my parents.
We still have the boxes of Audio tapes - Kind of dusty with the advent of the MP3, but I can say I'm still a fan.

Date: 2005-08-03 03:25 pm (UTC)You were at Consonance in San Jose... I think the year was 1992, the year Lady Colleen ran con suite and was expecting (Emerald, 13 now). I bought the "Domino Death" tape a few years later, and left it in my car stereo for months at a time, getting my friends addicted to it.
One such friend and I once sang "Divine Irregularity" in a filk room, to the tune of Gilligan's Island. It seemed like a good idea at the time...
Thanks for all the songs.

3. I am reminded of the Swami Beyondananda bit about Don Ho getting together with Yoko Ono and Yo-Yo Ma to record a rock-and-roll album in a Howard Johnson's in New Orleans. The album title was Yoko Yo-Yo HoJo MoJo Ho. The sequel was, of course, Mo' Yoko Yo-Yo HoJo Mojo Ho. Ho was interviewed, and the interviewer understood why Yoko was there, but why Yo-Yo Ma? To which Don replied, "There's always room for cello."
