There's a store here in town that sells them (I need to find a place to buy them wholesale at some point). I'm considering just drilling my own though (read: have my husband do it with his dremel tool) because I'd like some drilled through the center instead of through the points and I haven't found any like that already made. He drills the holes in the dominos that I stamp and color to make pendants with, so dice shouldn't be a problem. :)

Fiction to Read

I've started a cyberfunded/crowdfunded creativity project, and am putting fiction in my LJ, I'd love to get readers. You're welcome to read, ask questions, make comments, and so on. And, for people who enjoy and can afford it, there will be a "donate" button at the end of each piece. I've been laid off since January; funds will go toward living expenses for me and my family.

The initial short-short story went up yesterday, to introduce the world a bit. The start of a longer story will go up in the next day or two.

Peter S. Beagle has jumped on the Thing-A-Week bandwagon! In celebration of the year he turns 70, and his 50th anniversary of first being published, he has begun the "52/50 Project". A poem or song lyric every Monday for a full year. The catch is that you have to subscribe to and pay for it - $25, though your first email will contain everything that has been released under the Project to date.

And in a beautiful coincidence, I hadn't been able to read this week's installment until just before I saw your post, and this week's is my new favorite (displacing the first installment which is also awesome). I am going to flirt with the outer edges of Fair Use and share the two verses which really hit me where I live:

On the topic of comic book web sites, can anyone recommend a good comic review site? "Watchmen" reminded me how much I liked comics, but I stopped reading during the burnout years ago and forgot about them so I'm terribly out of touch with the current comic scene. I've looked at several review websites and blogs but so far the only good ones I've found discuss series that are already completed or comics from months ago.

So, are there any good current review sites around? That cover more than just Marvel and DC?

Though not everyone realizes it, librarians are doing a lot on the web to get reputable information out to people who can't/won't get to the library, 24/7.

For people in NJ (and some other states have similar programs) there is Q and A NJ. http://www.qandanj.org/ Live chat reference with a real librarian 24/7.

Open to anyone in the world there is the Internet Public Library http://www.ipl.org/ It contains a large library of links to reputable web sites and provides email reference provided by experienced librarians and librarians in training (who's responses are approved by the experienced librarians before being sent out). Due to the use of student librarians the email reference service is not always available between school semesters.
