I assume some folks are going to start heading for their Thanksgiving destinations today or tonight. I wish all of you safe travels, a wonderful and satisfying holiday meal, and some time to reflect on the really good stuff that we do all have going for us.
  • I am thankful for each and every one of you. You keep me sane, keep me honest, keep me going.
  • I am thankful for Anne, for a gazillion reasons, not the least of which is making sure I saw Avatar: The Last Airbender, Hikaru No Go, and the Stratford production of Caesar and Cleopatra.
  • I am thankful for Leslie, for darn near as many reasons, not the least of which is letting me live despite not having watched a minute of Top Chef this season.
  • I am thankful for my Mom and Dad and their spouses and extended families, for my sister and brother-in-law and their adorable kids, and for my brother and his family.
  • I am thankful for The Lemurs -- Tom & Karen & Miranda, Mark & Sharon, Matt & Pamela, Gail & Jamie, and the newest members Josh and Sarah & Tim & Alexander.
  • I am thankful for the filk community, my other extended family. Hugs to all of you.
  • I am thankful for PG Music, Sonic Foundry/Sony, and innumerable other software makers for providing the tools I use to rock my, and hopefully your, house.
  • I am thankful for Popcap, Bethesda, Bioware, Id, Digital Extremes, RiffTrax, and Everett Kaser for stealing so much of my time in such great ways.
  • I am thankful for all the very nice people who got me to various conventions this past year, and who have invited me for next year. I've been having the time of my life.
I could go on for quite awhile here, but I think I'll let you do that. :) I'll also let you know that, Friday through Sunday, I'm having a sale at Tom Smith Online. Basically, all of the downloadable concerts -- including GAFilk 2001 and MarCon 2005 -- will be $1.99 ($2.99 for the multiple sets, LibertyCon and WindyCon). And all the rest of the download albums will be five bucks each.

So. What are you thankful for this year?

I'm thankful for the myriad number of friends we have, who have been there since everything went bad for us last month. Also thankful for family, but it's been the friends who have kept us sane these past six weeks.

Hee, Popcap! (Local to the Emerald City... and yeah, some good games...) And Everett Kaser's stuff is just ADDICTING, ainna? Only games I've ever actually *paid for*. (Flight Simulator isn't a game, really, not in the usual sense, and besides, the last one I bought was FS5 in 1993; after that, I gave up on Windows for a very long time, and the only reason I have it now (and not on a games-quality machine) is I'm *lazy*...)

SecondLife. Not only another great time suck, but a place to play live music and be heard around the world without leaving your studio.

I am most thankful for my friends and family. Both my IRL and online friends and my human and furry family. All have given me the support I need while I'm going through this difficult time in life while I'm looking for a new job.

I'm especially grateful for my parents who assured me they won't let me loose my house.

I'm thankful for my cats who give me their unconditional love and devotion; Lena who loves to sleep on me, my #1 bud Sarge, and larger than life Pepi.

I'm thankful for the FuMP and filk which makes me laugh.

I'm thankful for City of Heroes and my superteam Babes of War for giving me something to do.

I'm thankful for my neighbors who look after my cats when I'm gone and have never asked for anything in return.

I'm thankful for the internet which has given me my livelihood for over a decade and I hope will continue to do so for many more.

I'm thankful for you and PZ Myers for giving me the courage to speak more about being an Atheist and not backing down.

I'm thankful we have a President who actually cares about the people he serves instead of expanding his own power and that we live in a free nation.

For a husband without peer or par, an astonishing and wonderful son, for astonishing and wonderful friends, collegues who inspire and delight, and for finding out I've got the bottom to go out and at least TRY to makes some change in my industry if not my world.

I have a lot to be thankful for, but it's the same old "live, family, friends" litany, so I'll spare you the details.

I don't have to travel far for dinner, just across town to my sister's. But I have to go to church in the morning, because I'm part of the bell choir. I'd rather sleep in, honestly.

Have a good Thanksgiving!!!

I hope you realize how lucky you are not to have to travel far for T-day. One of the biggest culture shocks for me when I moved to Chicagoland was how multiple generations of families have lived there their whole lives. I have always been one of the few people who need the day before and after off to visit family. Everyone else just drove for an hour (at most) through traffic to an aunt/cousin/parent/etc house. I had to drive 3 hours to Iowa then I ride with my parents another 2 hours to Middle of Nowhere for the gathering and back. Fatique on the road was a serious threat.

But could be worse. I could have to fly.

I just got PhD funding, after having been told I didn't--I'm so thankful I can't see straight. ;)

I'm thankful for the opportunity to live in a place I love desperately while pursuing the path I'm meant to be on, because it's a great feeling.

I'm thankful that I get to go home and see my family for Christmas this year.

I'm thankful for my best friends/former roommates, who have gone way above and beyond taking care of my cats--to the tune of borrowing about $2k they don't have, because one of the kitties got sick--all without complaint.

I'm thankful for a nice place to live, housemates I adore, more great friends than I could ever hope to count, and understanding research supervisors.

I'm sure there's more, there is always more, but that will do for now. :)

I'm thankful for family, both of my blood and of friends so close that we're family by choice if not by blood.

I'm thankful for the storms in my life, because without them I wouldn't be who I am today.

I'm thankful that Blizzard is around and making such great games. :) Yes I r a wow geek. ;)

I'm thankful for Tom's music and for the friendship.

Most of all I thank God for my salvation.

You're sane?

I'm thankful to be working again, with and for one of my Burning Man compatriots, supporting a product and service that's having a positive impact on the world around me (</shamelessplug>).

I'm thankful I had http://www.wizard101.com/ to keep me entertained during long days of not getting calls from my temp agencies.

I'm thankful for a relationship web filled with mutual love, respect, and support. My boyfriend has awesome girlfriends. ;-)

I'm thankful for [livejournal.com profile] gridlore. Even when I want to thwap him. Perhaps especially when I want to thwap him.

I'm eternally thankful that my family of choice and my blood family are intersecting sets.

I'm thankful for friends, and family, and friends/family.

I'm thankful for the path I'm on...and my future plans of world domination.

I'm thankful FOR SCIENCE!

I'm thankful for all the amusement, heartache, and pure beauty that life can be, even when it's not.

I'm thankful for you, and a fateful (proper context?) phone call in 2005 that put our paths together. And I'll be thankful when student loans kick in, and I can get the albums you have put up, a few comic trades I want to catch up on, and MAYBE a DVD box set (and I mustn't forget..a proper, decent sushi meal).

Have a great day tomorrow, and this weekend. :-)
