Lovely weekend at ConClave. Many, many, many thanks to Tom, Liz, and ever-damn-body. You are my tribe, and I love you all.

Busy, busy night and tomorrow. Must finish two commission projects. Later in week, must finish last two songs from The Last Hero On Earth.

But.

I just now finished watching the pilot episode of Firefly.

I don't know yet if it's as good as Babylon 5 or American Gothic.

But.

Damn.

So that's what you all have been talking about.

Damn.

Babylon 5 is excellent.
American Gothic, I will be able to give an opinion on once it's out on DVD.

Firefly is also excellent.

Room in the `verse for lots of shiny.

And SERENITY? Waaaaaaaaay shiny.

I'm still pissed off about Serenity.

Watch the entire series, then watch the movie. You'll see why.

Yeah, it's a good movie. I still want to slap Joss Whedon upside the head.

It's a pretty good series IMHO, and the pilot isn't one of the best episodes. You should be heartily entertained.

Welcome to the 'verse, Tom. :) I agree, the pilot was not the greatest episode, but it STILL shoulda been shown first, not last. Fox, you stupid fong luh weenies.

See, that's kinda my point. If the pilot isn't the greatest episode.... whew. 'Cause I thought it was nineteen kindsa superb.

I like War Stories and Shindig best myself. And Out of Gas. And...

Shindig rules so hard. That's the one that cemented my love for Kaylee.

I have to say it isn't as good as B5, but that's only because it never got the chance to be. However, it was running top-of-the-line episodes faster than B5, was, so who knows what would have happened?

I'll love to see your reaction after Out of Gas - but please watch them in order. :) Don't get me wrong, the pilot was really shiny, but they get so much better.

My personal favorite is Out of Gas (which is one of the most amazing pieces of TV cinematography I've ever seen), but I don't remember which # ep that is. I actually show it stand-alone to people who aren't sure they want to watch, and are only willing to commit to a single hour of tryout.

I dislike Heart of Gold, but won't say why until our host has seen the episode to avoid spoiling him.
