It's a... brisk morning here in Columbus, but that's juuuust fine. It's been a great weekend, with lots of superb music and many, many, many friends, including several I haven't seen for a long time, and others that I've seen but not recently enough. Joe & Terry and Mike and Becky and Rand and Kathy and Dave & Judith and Gary & Sheryl and Andy & Jinny and Peter and Mary and Kathy & Dan and Sally and Renee and Alan and and and and and... basically, ever-damn-body. Hugs to all of you.

The Pegasus Nominee concert on Friday was most excellent. Michelle Dockery and Toastmistress Seanan McGuire are both lovely and godawful talented, with stunning voices and really good songs. Michelle's "The Girl That's Never Been" was particularly haunting, very cool indeed. The energy level was great all night, and we were all shticking all over the place, and I can now state categorically that both Steve MacDonald and Dave Weigart can smooch with the best of 'em. Don't ask.

Don't ask! Our GOH Frank Hayes seemed a bit nervous, but I think that's perhaps me just being more relaxed. I've only heard Frank perform a few times, and all but one were almost twenty years ago, so it was a delight to hear him again, and to hang out with him briefly. He also did me a very kind turn: A Wired Magazine interviewer was following him around for part of Saturday, and he basically told her that, as he hadn't been doing much in the way of Hanging Around In The Filk Community since the mid-80s -- when I started -- she should talk to me. She did, and it was a lot of fun, and if anything comes of it I'll let you know.

Dinner with Les, Janet, and Dan at P.F. Chang's. Fascinating and very tasty. I love Pacific Rim fusion menus in small doses, and we are gonna get to the Chang's up our way. (One point against: slick plastic chopsticks. Very pretty, almost useless because there's no texture to help grab the food. I didn't even try to use 'em; I've slopped on myself before.)

The Interfilk charity auction was, again, a lovely fun time. I can't remember Auctioneer Bob's last name, but I think we've adopted the guy over the past couple of years, and it's amazing watching, and listening to, him work. I tossed a near-final mix of the new album (with female vocals and everything) into the auction, and it got $150. Kudos to you, Peter, and to everyone who donated and bid.

As I hoped, the hall sing (down near the piano at the far end) was really good. My only regret was I didn't get over to the Traditional Celtic Jam, which I'm sure was frickin' amazing. But we had some great stuff, and Joe Giacoio was there with his new CD, and Rob Balder (with Rachel) was there, and Rand did a song or two, and Michelle Dockery, and Randy Hoffman, and and and and and. Lots of new stuff, lots of funny stuff, some well-chosen angst and woe, and a great crowd.

(For those who were there: Yes, I really am just fine. As I was taking my leave, people were moving chairs in the back, and I turned to sit in one so I could stick the guitar back in its case... and in the few seconds I took to turn around, the chair was moved, and I went to the floor. Everybody freaked, but I promise I'm just fine. In fact, I was sitting slowly, and my butt is well-padded, and it was a lot better than it might've been if I'd been younger and healthier. Imagine that. :)

Anyway, now it's Sunday morning, and Les and I are gonna get breakfast, hang out for awhile, and eventually meander back to Ann Arbor. But damn this has been a fun con.

Next year. College or no damn college, Im coming. Curse midterms! Curse my teachers!

And curse it that I wasnt there to see Leslie Fish to Lackey's "Three's" - Which remains one of the BEST Songs I've ever heard. (Considering Im a Valdemar Lackey, I suppose it should be expected..)

Still, I want to meet the voice of Kerowyn. At least I think she does Kerowyn. I cant remember. ^^;;

*smooch*

Fantastic to see you again! We're planning to make GaFilk, if you'll be there. And oh hey, we're going to see you a bit sooner than that, now, aren't we? ;)

And congrats again on your Pegasus! :)
