Date: 2009-12-06 12:43 am (UTC)But barring that improbability, I'd settle for peace on earth, equality for all, and maybe a book or two, shoes, or that nifty Jeeves talking alarm clock. *g*

Date: 2009-12-06 12:46 am (UTC)I would really, really like to know that I can keep my job, and also get a part-time job somewhere. It's trite to say but a little more money is what I need right now. I am incredibly thankful that I have my job, but the stress of never having enough money is getting to me.
And if the family drama could be dialed down a bit... I would greatly appreciate that.
Gift cards for food for me and the cats are high on my list.

Date: 2009-12-06 01:39 am (UTC)2. Find out that my brother is alive and not starving/homeless. He's up in WI and mom and dad haven't heard from him in awhile and no phone calls are going through. He was/is in a very touch-and-go situation dwelling/pay wise.
3. Keeping the job that I have now and maybe finding side work or other work.
Those would be my top 3...the things I've asked family for like gift certificates to Wal-Mart (for clothes) or to one of the game stores (to get a Wii game or two) would be a nice topping on the pie. Even if I didn't get those things...if 1-3 come to pass, I'll consider it a good Christmas.

Date: 2009-12-06 01:44 am (UTC)For material items, I need a new v-slicer and some decent measuring cups. And some DVDs and books. Amazon gift cards are good too.

Date: 2009-12-06 02:27 am (UTC)As for your question: "all i want for Christmas is a terabyte external hard drive"
or is that how it goes?...
I'm planning on dumping all my crap from my laptop onto that so i don't lose any of my info when i get Windows 7. I'm pretty happy that the student fee for that is $30 or so. Has anyone heard anything nasty about the new version? I don't want to get something that's gonna make doing schoolwork even harder, ya know? >_>

Date: 2009-12-06 03:09 am (UTC)It's elective, and she has one of the top guys in the field doing the procedure, but its still surgery, y'know?

Date: 2009-12-06 05:50 am (UTC)For Christmas, I'd like for my mother-in-law to recover from her recent cancer-removal surgery and make it home in time for the holiday.
Less seriously, I'd love an ofuro (Japanese-style bathtub). It's the best bathtub my 6-and-half foot tall husband ever found for soaking in.

Date: 2009-12-06 07:53 am (UTC)I want a job for my former-brother-now-sister. Almost as much, in fact, as I want my father to grow up & get a clue about the whole "former" part. No, everything is *not* about you, Dad.
And while I'm at it, jobs for all my friends who need them, whether IRL or online.
Oh, and health care reform with a real honest-to-God functional public option. OK, what I really want is single payer, but I'm too old to believe in Santa Claus...
