Maxicron! Amazing Gracie! Fenderbender! These and many other famous superheroes stick in the collective craw of the world's mad scientists, who, frustrated with their numerous individual defeats, have united under the diabolical leadership of Dr. Thaddeus Mallevo and Sir Wilfred P. Huffelbaggins III to get rid of the heroes forever with the terrible robot army known as The Sinister Sixty, led by the Kill-O-Tron! Now, only one superhero wannabe -- the idealistic everyman who calls himself The Waffle -- stands between the people of Earth and total subjugation!

Pity he's just been zapped across the galaxy....
Inspired by the full-goose bozo wonderment of 24 Hour Comic Book Day, Tom Smith's newest album was written in one day. (Okay, he fudged a bit -- some of the shtick, and an extra verse here and there, were written later.) And, unlike last year's model, Badgers and Gophers and Squirrels Oh My, this one has a plot!

Action, comedy, drama, romance, sound effects, alien hotties, angst-filled killer robots, pirate ninjas with dinosaurs, dimensional gateways, croquet tournaments -- this one's got it all!

You can now pre-order The Last Hero On Earth for $20.00 USD. This includes a download of MP3s of the album tracks*, lyrics, character designs, and the final CD when it's released, including shipping charges.

* The final CD will have bonus tracks showing some of the evolution of the project. The mix is also likely to be tweaked.

To purchase The Last Hero On Earth, go to http://www.tomsmithonline.com/cd.htm. (There's even an audio sample with the first four songs!)
Note: I did some tweaking on the web site as well. If anyone has any problems at all getting stuff, e-mail me right away.

Update: Besides sticking the logo up there, I've got the track list for those of you using iTunes or some other software too stupid to put numbered tracks in numerical order:
  1. What If (I Were A Superhero)
  2. Mad Scientists United
  3. The Sinister Cavortings of Sir Wilfred P. Huffelbaggins III
  4. Warning: Wimbledon / The Sinister Sixty Strike

Prepurchase made. Be advised though, your webpage says it is 20$, but PayPal only charged me 10$.

I think you might've used the "discount code" button. Hmph. Okay, that part of the tech doesn't work. I have no way of enforcing this, but if you could throw an extra ten bucks into the Guitar Case, I'd appreciate it.

But I didn't press a discount button. I don't have a discount code to begin with. Hmm.

Sure, I'll throw a sawbuck in to make it square. No troubles.

I've listened to it all, and I'm listening again...Tom, you've really outdone yourself this time. I remember being infinitely impressed at the multiple-voicing in "Talk Like A Pirate Day," but this blows that out of the water. The rhyming is brilliant, and the scansions are amazing. Well worth the money.

Tom is there any way we could get a track listing, in order? The tracks didn't seem to import into iTunes with their track numbers. :(

I have to wait a bit, but I'll get there eventually. :-)

In the meantime, did you take the MP3 of The Twelve Days of Star Wars down intentionally, did it slip through the cracks, or am I just smoking crack? :-)

I did. It's part of the Best of Chicon download, and I decided to take it down for now. I suspect that, in spring, when I give the site another buff & polish, a few of those will become freebies, and some other things will become pay tracks.

Man, I'm gonna haveta download _another_ concert? You weren't satisfied with making my daughters walk around singing "Where the hell is Gavin", you need to make me infect them with something else? :-)
