There they were.

Little tiny flakes of white.

Not dandruff, either.

Some yesterday, only accumulating on ponds and other frozen water. The weather report says we might get another inch or so overnight, and another inch or two tomorrow. We also get wind gusts that may top 50 mph.

Winter's come to my part of the world.

How is it where you are?

Cold. No really, not just L.A. wimpy cold. 36F when I left the house this morning. That qualifies doesn't it? At least it's not raining today, we are in a break between fronts.

Chilly, but on the water side of freezing. Looks like we will get drenched tonight and tomorrow, but no snow just yet. We had our first flakes over the weekend, but no accumulation.

It is cold enough, though, that I wish I knew where I put my scarf this time.

Winter's due in at midnightish tonight. Not looking forward to it; I only just broke out the scarf and gloves yesterday.

On the other hand, the Yankees just made a three-way blockbuster trade (involving the Tigers, if you're a local baseball fan) that I talk about a bit here. Shorter me, looks like a fair trade all around, with some caveats about particular players.

Back to sleep until work, now.

Heh. The Mariners just signed Cione Figgins to a free agent deal. He's gonna make the big bucks and gets a four-year contract (a rarity for Mariners players; I think the last guy who got one of those was Jeff Cirillo, and look how that turned out), but IMO it's worth it just to not have him kill us as an Angel.

...I didn't need to hear that about the 50 mph wind gusts.

And my boss is out today so I can't even put in for comp time for the morning. I almost hope Ann Arbor schools are canceled (there's a half day so that might make it more likely), because I don't think I can both get Daughter to the school bus and get myself to work on time during bad winter weather.

Currently, at 1:30 in the afternoon, it is 2 degrees Farenheit with a dewpoint of -12. It was -7 when I went to bed at 4 this morning, windchill was -25.

No snow for us. Too cold. =)

We got a "dusting" yesterday morning which caused confusion and chaos on local freeways..(meh..it's Ohio) Today the weather is supposed to produce sleet and then rain..nothing yet..so very very Ohio in the wintertime. Methinks that the weather station has an "in" with the grocery stores.

It's in the 20s right about now, here in Minneapolis. There is going to be serious snow tonight and tomorrow. I used to want (really, seriously want) to keep working at a clinic, typing doctors' notes as I do, so there would be a place I always worked (the clinic) and a place I never worked (home). But I would not want to walk to the bus stop tomorrow in the snow. So my working at home is starting to feel really good.

COLD! cold cold cold cold! Record-breaking cold.

At least as it applies to here. 20F this morning. Finally cracking the freezing mark in some places now...

Love it how you managed NOT to use the S-word. (When the local meteorologist blogger calls it "S**W", it's a four-letter word!)

I want my (relatively) warm rain back.

Does wet, snowy, and oh-my-god-we're-getting-more-tonight about sum it up? (I live near Peoria, IL.)

For contrast, the company I work for (I work at home) is near Des Moines, IA and they are closing early and may not have the office in tomorrow if the 18 additional inches of snow arrives on top of what they already have.

I am really adoring the working-at-home right now.

Huzzah for summer. :). This is pretty lightweight, though. If it hits the mid-thirties, that's when we start whining...

It's raining now in southwest Ohio as I type this. And when it freezes, we'll have ice on the roads. Yikes! I'd rather have all the lake-effect snow in Buffalo over a quarter-inch of ice on the roads in Ohio. At least the folks there know how to drive in the white stuff, and the road crews know how to get rid of it.

Cold. At 2:45 PM PST the temperature at the weather station near my house is showing 29° F. Last night it got down to about 17°, maybe lower. This is not normal for Seattle in December; usually we are up in the 40s during the day and maybe into the high 30s at night.

But no matter how cold it is chez Banjo, I'm glad I'm not in Ohio right now. On TV they were saying there's a blizzard warning for the Entire. Freakin'. State. And it's not like that state is Rhode Island.

It could have waited. I had an interview this morning (first thing in the day at 8am) at a company about 16 miles away. Yesterday during the flurries I took a dry run to see how long it would take me to get there. Got lost 4 times because I tried taking short cuts and my map was out of date. Took 1:10 to get there. The way back to 0:40. Today it took about 0:40 to get there but about 15 minutes longer to get back because of the f-ing snow.

The important thing was that 1) I wasn't late and 2) I think the interview went well. (Unfortunately I forgot I wore my pants that were good until I got some paint marks on them. I hope the interviewer didn't notice.) Wish me luck, I'd love to land this job.

We've had a couple of mornings of scraping ice off the car windows (or else delaying our errands until the sun melted it) but have had no frozen precipitation yet.

Chance of that sometime this weekend, though, is the current expectation.

We had a little bit of snow yesterday morning, today it's been all rainy, cold and disgusting. I am hearing rumors of sleet, and that wind is supposed to be here tomorrow (and I quote from wcpo - "A wet, cold and very windy period ahead for us tonight and tomorrow. We could see a few snowshowers by tomorrow afternoon. HIGH WIND WARNING. The peak winds will start after 10am and continue until around 8pm. We'll see sustained winds 30-35mph will gusts to 40+mph."). I remember Ike, and the power outages, and I am VERY worried. I hope things go well here, there and everywhere.
