As mentioned, because of Friends List Churn, I'm gonna hype the new album every few days. Hope you don't mind. :) To those of you who have already purchased it, Thank You Very Much and I hope you're enjoying it.

Meantime, as it's gone up to 13° from a balmy -4°, I declare this an Open Thread With Hot Chocolate. How are you keeping warm today? What's your plan for the weekend?

Darn right!

I saw it recently in Chicago. Ana Gastmeyer was my Elphaba and she was shockingly spectacularly good. I had no idea she could sing.

And she can sing

Augh! I want to see it so badly. I mean, see it for real. I've fallen in love with the soundtrack and read the novel... but I wanna see the musical in a theatre and not on a friend's PC in two-inch by three-inch bootlegged mode (in my defense, I didn't know it was bootleg until after it was over!)

I upset my mom when I was 4 and my twin sister and I watched her favorite movie (The Wizard of Oz) with her the first time... I called Dorothy, "a bad little girl" because she kept the shoes. I kept asking when she was gonna get in trouble for taking them, or when they were gonna turn out to be a trap

Yeah... Wicked needed to be written :)

It's 34° here in Houston (that's pretty cold for here, it even dipped below freezing last night) and drizzling. I'm staying warm by wearing a sweater indoors and keeping as far away from the windows as I can. The windows in my apartment are huge heat sinks that suck warmth into the outdoors.

This weekend, I will sleep. Or write. Maybe both.

I'm going Saturday to an all-day book clubby thingy at Barnes and Nobles... where they have hot chocolatey things at the in-store Starbucks. I'm gonna bring my improvised mp3 player (thumb drive crammed full of mp3s put into a buddy's laptop and my headphones) and talk about books while I listen to TLHOE that I will be purchasing t'night assuming I'm not forgetting budgety bits

Saturday's my 34th birthday and hope to celebrate with Settlers of Cataan, Champions, Fluxx and the final revelation of my birthday present, since M`jit's been teasing me with no effect about what it is. (Heh, I never caved in to play along with what it could be. Mean, I know)

today, i'm cleaning the basement (with help from my loving and stronger-than-me boyfriend) in an attempt to get all the family Christmas stuff upstairs. if there's time before he has to leave for work, we'll also be setting the tree up and maybe doing a little decorating. and watching CSI, and laughing at the kentuckians who panic at the forecast of 4-6 inches. but we'll also both be doing as little driving as possible, and that on high alert, because after the first three flakes of snow fall, at least 90% of all louisvillians totally forget how to drive and therefore become little more than moving death traps.
this weekend will involve more of the same, with an emphasis on housecleaning in the interest of presenting a clean(er) house when my parents come home saturday night, and working the job i hate while hoping desperately that my Christmas gift from the universe will be a new job.

Los Angeles is cool and crisp, what other people would call "Autumnal". I'm going to be speaking at the John Lennon candlelight vigil at the Capitol Records Tower this evening. Not sure why they asked me but I'm friendly with the organizer and I suppose he thought my reminiscences of 25 years past worth sharing.

Last evening I baked three gingerbreads with a lot of fruit in them [don't say Fr**tc*k*] and drenched them with plum brandy for the weekend's partying: SCA Bardic Bash on Friday [singing, storytelling, wassailing, waffling and wot'ever]; Star Trek club [USS Angeles] party on Saturday; SCA Heralds' work party and gift exchange on Sunday. The heralds generally give the best presents of any of the gift exchange games, for some reason. More discriminiating taste, I suppose.

Monday my boss gets back from her vacation so I can finally get some sleep. *zzzzz*

Well, "frenetic" is what it feels like around here but the word I was avoiding was "fruitcake". Mine is not your traditional nasty thing good only for flinging from the tower, but a tasty cake that happens to have fruit in it. OK, and brandy too.

Keeping warm has been an important theme today, actually, especially while I was stuck on the side of the highway for an hour waiting for the AAA guy to come and fix the flat tire I got driving over broken glass from the accident that had stopped traffic for the hour before that.

Yeah, I was a little late to work today. In the giant spectrum of days, today is shaping up somewhere between 'the day I had to take my organic chemistry midterm while I had the stomach flu' and 'the day my iguana died.'

On the other hand, I get to go see 'Wicked' this weekend, and go out to brunch with a bunch of cool people. That should more than make up for the lousiness of today....

I've kept warm these past days by having moved to the West Coast this summer.

There are a lot of things I miss about Ann Arbor. The weather is not among them.

weekend...

Already packed and running the last of the errands before I leave for a con you attended about 10 years ago... Philcon. As for the weather, where I live, they are predicting a small amount of snow - 4"-8" with a possible conversion to rain mixed in. (Ugh!) I am VERY glad I now leave for a con on THURSDAYS. :)

I will be trying to locate (at a traveling companion's house) his copy (and I know its a 2nd generation, he not the recording person) of your concert from that Philcon. (.wav files will be sent to you once I get the tape again.) I have learned to NOT record in mp3 format... After doing tech work on 2 published CDs, you learn a bit. :)

One trick I have to REMEMBER is to make sure the CD you send to the duplicator is run thru the audio balancing software BEFORE it goes off and do not assume the .wav files ARE balanced. A couple of volume headaches appear on Kathy Sands' (of Tales from the White Hart) first CD. Hopefully next time, I will NOT have to deal with a rush it out to the duplicator for a Darkover release date.

Okay, I just spent the last hour or so in fangrrl rapture. I didn't buy TLHOE, someone bought it for me :)

After listening to it thoroughly, it occurs to me that if he were so inclined, our illustrious World's Fastest Filker has written the basis of what could be an absolutely amazing Musical Production. I sat there imagining the theatre around me. The curtain rising, and the production taking shape in front of me...

So. I have a problem. I now want to see a show that doesn't exist, but I already have the soundtrack

At the moment, it is 47ºF and cloudy here in Las Vegas.

After work, I plan to rent a trailer from U-Haul in order to move a couple of green leather chairs, provided from my father, and a LOVELY black iron bed-frame provided by my two best friends in all the world, Edward and Maureen, into my new condo.

Otherwise, I plan to spend the day meditating on the life of John Lennon, which was tragically cut short 25 years ago this very day.

And when all is said and done, I plan to watch my new Soupy Sales DVDs that just arrived from Amazon.com

Probably spend part of Saturday finishing the dig-out from the snowstorm we're getting tonight and tomorrow. Saturday night a bunch of LJers in the area are getting together for dinner. Sunday I sing in a church choir and might follow that up with attending another concert in the afternoon. Ah, December...

Ooh... chocolate..... Yummmmmmmmm.

Mostly I'm keeping warm by living in Southern California, heh heh...

BTW - I bought the pre-order but haven't gotten a connection fast enough to download it in less than 2 hours, and the link is running out of time. When can I expect the actual disc to come out?

We got our first snow fall here today and for a change it was signficant -- between 3" and 4" (and for St. Louis that's SIGNIFICANT) -- so of course everyone hit the panic button and forgot how to drive.

This weekend I'm getting TLHOE and then making candy while listening to fun music, all without having to drive among the crazy people out there.

I'm SOOOOO good with that.

We went rock climbing (indoor gym).
The error was in arriving very close to opening so the huge warehouse sized building had not had time to warm up yet. It was just getting to t-shirt warmth when we left 3 hours later.
