Dang, it's windy.

Here in SE Ann Arbor, there was maybe a spotty half-inch of snow this morning, but rain washed it away. Between tonight and tomorrow, they're talking two to five inches, and a lot colder temperatures so it won't be going anywhere. But the big thing right now is the wind, which is gusting up to 50 mph and rattling the hell out of everything. I'd bungee'd my trash can to the porch, but not the lid, which has gone down the street. I'll chase it when things are calmer.

How is it where you are now? And does anyone need some help from fellow LJers -- heat, power, food, whatever?

Much warmer here in Seattle, it's all the way up to 31 degrees F now.

At least we don't have the precipitation or wind to deal with. If we get snow it shouldn't start until sometime Friday night and I don't think there'll be much of it.

Holy crap, it's gonna break freezing today! After last night's low of -8 (17F) I wasn't at all convinced it would.

Our neighbours lost their water main overnight. Yay! (No, Gir, that's bad.)

It's 49deg with literally HOWLING winds here in Southern Indiana...the Ohio River's completely whitecapped and I can see a few pieces of debris from my office building here...I'm leaving to attempt to get home in about 15min and see if our balcony decorations are still there...we're on the leeward side of the building, so there's a chance.

Here we go!

Woohh..the snow has been blowing down here near Dayton at all directions, but doesn't seem like sticking much. I've got windfall from September 2008 Hurricane Ike in the wood burning stove, and orange shortbread cookies with chocolate chips in the oven. Life is good.

This (http://ardent-firesong.livejournal.com/133927.html) is how windy it's been in Indianapolis today. Windy enough to knock light poles over....onto power lines, of course.

I'm on the northeast side of Indy. the fence behind our house is on the ground. On the good side, the new roof seems to be okey dokey. Now to look for recipes for acorn squash.

Yesterday it was warm, windy and humid.

Today the temperature's dropping like a brick, still windy, still humid, which means the usual fun in a house where half the rooms aren't on the anemic central heat- and they just don't make useful space heaters, really.

That said, I think I'm in OK shape- could always use more sales and stuff, get money in the bank for the next WLP book project- but personally, all right.

Yup, just as windy a few miles away from ya.
Heard the metal roof on the back of garage overhang banging around again, so had to get up on ladder with hammer and fresh nails and try to get it tied down again.
It's now light snowing with plenty of wind. At least the driveway and streets dried out before the snowfall, so there might be less ice.

I put the furnace up a degree, just incase of power failure.

Snow should be moving vertical right? It's flying horizontal out here. Fortunately I don't have anything to do today that involves going outside. My interview was yesterday (still waiting to hear how it turned out) and tomorrow I'm meeting with another recruiter. At least that one is really close by. If it wasn't cold, snowy, windy, etc I could in theory walk there.

Weather will be pretty clear today (even if it will be F-in cold) and they're pretty good about the streets here. I'm going to go out for a while in a few hours which will be a good test.

If I walk anywhere due to icy roads, I'd like it to be on New Year's Eve right after midnight. I'd go to one of the main streets through my town with a lawn chair and camera and watch as people try to get home after "amateur night". Maybe I could sell myself as a professional witness. :)

It's pretty much exactly like that in Fort Wayne (where I'm doing my latest conference). We had wind gusts of up to 70mph this afternoon, apparently.

From my vantage point, I watched the following blow past the outside glass doors:
Leaves
Snow
Branches
Litter
Umbrellas
Trash cans
Students
A lineup of burly-looking nannies

(OK, I made that last one up.)

12.5 inches of snow. Lots and lots of wind. A drift in my driveway that comes up to the bottom of the windows of my car. Snowblower being warmed up as we speak. Hopefully. Told the husband to do it and get it positioned for getting out of the garage in Sept. Guess who didn't get it done? I just walked a few blocks to get the gas that should have been in a can in the garage for it. Frakkin' cold. A good night for hot cocoa and popcorn and a movie with the family.

Just on the other side of the state from you, we've had a mix of snow/rain and now it's just snow. It's windy here, too. We're supposed to get a lot of lake effect snow today and tomorrow, and some of our wind is coming from the east.

When the wind comes from the east, it's usually colder.

We have no heat, but if it is what they think broke it will have to wait til tax returns to fix the furnace. Cracked heat exchanger is what the guy said. Til then, space heaters are our friend. Just.. when the wind chill is 1 degree F. that gets danged chilly. Warm enough to keep the pipes from being icy, cool enough that the fingers and toes are cold.

Sadly, it's to cold to snow! I mean really, if it would snow at least it would be pretty!

Fifty-mile gusts, twenty-five sustained. A little snow on the ground and wind-chills below zero through tomorrow.

I'm down with a recurring Cough/Cold--my immune system's not what it's used to. Kathi's out getting essentials, Sean baked cookies, Cheron's hunkered down.

I'll have to go get kitten at eleven tonight when she closes the library.

No complaints, really.

Lots of wind for this area (in Amarillo, it wouldn't be worth mentioning, but Tennessee isn't prepared for this stuff, and pieces of gutters and roofs are coming off.

Weather otherwise warm and sunny -- temps are supposed to drop tonight to below freezing, but not very much below. (Though with that wind, it may *seem* as though it's a lot below)

I don't need much, but what I need seems insurmountable--for my husband to find a job so we can return to our beloved Ann Arbor.

As for weather, here in south-central PA, we got a "wintry mix" which turned into pure rain, and today was sunny and almost 50 degrees. There is a prediction for snow Sunday, which might be an inch. Two, if we're lucky.

I haven't seen a proper snowsnorm since we left Michigan eleven years ago. I want to go HOME!

I tried some of that. I know someone who is in need of money for prescriptions, and tried to convince other people to help. Of about five people who knew the person involved, only one was interested in helping. Everyone else seems to be tapped out for the holiday.

If I had the money I'd do it all myself, privately, but not with my current financial situation. This, not anything personal for my miserable self, is why I'd like to win the Lotto.

We went from 50f this morning to 27f right now. Still dropping like a rock. Currently we have light snow and ongoing wind, earlier there was lots of rain.
Apropos trash can, mine blew over, so I straightened it out, re-attached the lid and left it on its side. Thankfully it stayed there.

What I need more than anything right now is for someone to hit my mortgage company (I did not chose them, my note was sold to them) with a clue by four. I am trying to get money with which to pay them, which I cannot do if they refuse to send me a letter showing what I am behind (several months at this point). I have no idea what to do.

Well last night was fun. It was 70 outside, and the tornado sirens were going off. A friend said on Facebook "It wouldn't be finals week at the U of A(labama) without tornado warnings.

Today was cooler, and the wind was whippy. Tuscaloosa is peculiar in that it sits at the end of the foothills, and then drops to a coastal plain. We get winds. Temp is dropping, likely to have another freezing night tonight or tomorrow.

And then again, we fully expect a 50-60 degree Christmas, as this *is* Alabama. If you don't like the weather, just wait 15 minutes.

When I woke up yesterday it was 51 with strong winds out of the SW. Over the course of the day the temperature steadily dropped and the winds shifted west, then northwest, still running 25-40mph. Trees knocked down, shingles ripped off roofs. And now it's time to go to work again and it's 23 out there. Maybe not that cold for you MI folk, but down here in the Nashville area that's cold enough.
