My weekend will be straightforward to the point of boring, except it won't be boring at all. We had the family Xmas last Sunday. Laundry at some point tomorrow, work on the final final final mix of the album, I've started on music and themes (and lietmotifs, fer gosh sakes) for Girl Genius, maybe getting together with [livejournal.com profile] huskiebear and her family on Sunday, seeing King Kong at last with Anne on Monday. What's your Christmas weekend looking like?

To all of you, whatever your faith, lots of hugs and love this holiday season. You rock my world, and I'm gonna do my best to keep rocking yours.

Opening presents with my daughter and fiance tomorrow morning, Christmas with my dad's side of the family tomorrow evening, then she goes to her dads.

My fiance and I are opening our gifts to each other Sunday morning, then hosting a bit of an "Orphan's Christmas" here in town for some friends with no plans.

Ya heard about the peninsula in Indonesia where they made the best soy sauce in the world? The tsunami destroyed the land bridge between the peninsula and the rest of the island, and if you go there right now you can hear the islanders singing forlornly towards their former source of income:

"We miss you, Tamari Ithsmus, we miss you, Tamari Ithsmus...."

Tomorrow (Xmas Eve): present wrapping, then potluck dinner with the church choir prior to the late-evening service (starts at 2230, ends some time past midnight); then maybe a little bit of [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00's "Bomb Shelter Radio" on WKoL (wkol.booyah.org) before sleep.
Sunday (Xmas Day): travel to my sister's in Maryland to celebrate with my family. It's an added bonus for the Jewish side that Chanukah starts in the evening. Probably return home Sunday night.

I'll start tomorrow making pie crusts, which later in the day will become pumpkin pie.

2ish we'll wend our way down to St Clair Shores for Xmas with my Dad, along with my Sister and her clan, my step mother and her clan and their clans.. 22 for dinner. Chaos will ensue, a fine meal and presents. Much Belgium Beer will be consumed.

Christmas Eve evening we'll have a fire at home and have our annual watching of "A Muppets Family Christmas". Sabrina will put out fresh baked cookies and milk for Santa (Carrots for the reindeer too).

When Sabrina's abed we'll sneak the gifts out under the tree and fill the stockings.

Xmas morning, We'll get up.. stockings are up for grab anytime Xmas morning. And Sabrina will find an unwrapped toy on the plate in place of the cookies. Then juice and coffee cake will be brought out.. not cause we're hungry, but just to torment Sabrina, or at least that's what she thinks.

We'll then open our gifts and revel in them.

Early in the afternoon, we'll pack up the car and head for Traverse City and Diana's Parents, and her younger sister and clan. More gifts, dinner and an evening playing with new toys.

And in reality this will be a very SLOW Xmas for us.. we're used to a lot more stops normally.

the Eve: work 8 AM-2:30 PM, kidnap kane, scuttle to reserve seats at the 5 PM mass, traditional Polish family dinner (Wigila if you want the lingo) at my grandmother's house, start the annual family-effort jigsaw puzzle, juggle 8- and nearly-6-year-old cousins, then return kane and get sleep
the Day: back out to the grandmother's around noonish for gift exchange with the whole famdamily. kane will arrive after the same at his granny's. dinner, then kane will kidnap me to his house for gift exchange part deux (trois?) and return me home to collapse into my bed and maybe get sleep before returning to our regularly scheduled monotony on monday.
at least i have a timeline. whether that gets chucked one or two hours into the actual events is anyone's guess.
hugs and love to you and yours. as murray's been saying lately, happy merry christmahannukwanzikolstice all the way 'round.

Christmas Eve: hosting an "orphans" party with shake n bake chicken to munch while we play silly board games and listen to good music (TLHOE is on the playlist).

Christmas Day: Morningish: opening stockings and presents with the folks who stayed the night
Afternoonish: taking goodie baskets to all the places where folks have to work that day (ER rooms, police stations, etc.) then home for a family dinner of beef wellington

The next day we all sleep in and finally get a chance to be lazy and NOT go near any place retail.

Happy holidays to you -- may your world be filled with peace and joy and love.

Hugs -- K

Just finished drying all the dishes from tonight's winter gathering. Tomorrow, off to the best friend's before at least one church service. Talking to some relatives (and watching da Bears kick some Packer ass) on Christmas, more with the friends and the shopping for them after the big day (the perks of being a college student).

So glad I found your LJ -- peace on Earth and mercy mild (try singing that song to "Doe, a Deer" or try "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" to "Folsom Prison Blues").

I'm finally on the road to recovery from over a week's worth of major sinus issues, so I am happy that all I have planned is to do the family thing tomorrow afternoon. Other than that I plan to read and catch up on all my new dvds. YAY!
I've not seen King King yet, but it's one of the things I'd like to do on Monday.

Merry Christmas!

As for me, I'm doing the "I'm-the-token-Jew-at-my-radio-jobs" bit and working, working, and working.

By the time this week is over I'll have put in 87 hours.

I literally don't have a day off till next year.

Happy Holidays, Tom.

Weekend plans (for what's left of it...)

A drive to NJ to start recording Kathy Sands' 2nd CD (now that the first one is out. See rec.music.filk for info on it.) Spending some of the time with family for the holidays as I can catch them, likely on Monday when I return the borrowed recording equipment.... (That also requires me to FINISH wrapping the last of the holiday gifts... 3 more to go! Yea!)

The afternoon of the 24th was for wrapping all the presents for both families. The evening [and into early morning] was for my husband's family [lots of chat, good food--cajun!]. The afternoon of the 25th was for my family. We get our own Christmas in the evening of the 25th [after recovering from lunch]. The 26th we'll go see the new Harry Potter movie, after getting in a walk at the nature trail. Yay for the low-profile, low-stress, hobbit lifestyle!
