Televangelist Oral Roberts has passed away at the age of 91.

You know how I feel about the man and his work. But... an old man, a fellow human, has died. May he rest well. Condolences to his family and friends.

And your words STILL do you credit, Sir.

I was surprised to see my comments there... and glad to see that it would seem that I have not changed too much for the bad.

They reached the target and he got called Home?

May he find peace and mercy anyhow. Not good to rejoice over the misfortune of ones enemies.

May he receive mercy even as we hope to; Judgement is not for us to impose.
And there will be a Judgement.

no disrespect.....

It's his religion, not mine; I am not bound by that prohibition, but he certainly will be.

Still, I'll take another shot if it'll make you feel better: May he be granted mercy according to the same standards by which he granted, or did not grant, it to his fellow humans.

Just out of curiosity, if judgment is not for us to impose, why do so many Christians feel compelled to judge others?

Why are there so many flavours of Christianity some of which don't acknowledge that some of the others are Christian? Why do some churches not even use a cross or fish as their outward logo? (one of these always goes by initials so you need to know that the C = Church)

Matthew 7 - "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

I think the question you ask is extremely valid. But is the label on the tin accurately describing the contents?

Even when it involves somebody I could never possibly have agreed with, this kind of milestone is worth noting. And it *is* a milestone. I am certainly more inclined to give Mr. Roberts a token 5-minute mourning period than I would be to mourn similarly for, let's say, George W. Bush.

He may have shared a genetic similarity with some of us, but based on how he treated others, there was little "human" about him.

The nicest thing I can wish for him is that in ten years, people hearing his name will say, "Who?"
