Well, that was fun. :)

I thought my sets went pretty well, although I felt like a dumbass forgetting my lyrics on Saturday night. Muddled through, with a little help from my friends. And [livejournal.com profile] tigertoy finally, finally got his revenge for The Sentient Chili Incident of RiverCon '87. (Basically, he challenged the audience to break him up while he sang "Beware of the Sentient Chili". We got to the verse "The vegetables plot insurrection..." and I said, "Duh-uh-uh-UHHRRRR, we're takin' ova!" Flattened his ass. So, last night, while I was trying to work through "Walkin' Along The Beach...", he and Helen and a few other people suddenly start doing hand jive. Flattened my ass. It was a hoot.)

I apologize for not being as visible as I might've been outside of my sets -- I wasn't there a lot of Saturday; I was just too wiped, and because of that I also didn't make either of the filks (which I heard were realgood, and I can believe it, given that they had Moonwolf as the Filk GOH, and Wild Mercy, and Kat Eggleston, and [livejournal.com profile] quadrivium, and [livejournal.com profile] catalana, and [livejournal.com profile] markbernstein, and [livejournal.com profile] lukeski and [livejournal.com profile] ericcoleman and [livejournal.com profile] peteralway and [livejournal.com profile] tnatj and and and...). I did get to briefly see a lot of friends, though, including Lee Darrow, Peter B. Gillis, Nick Pollotta, [livejournal.com profile] filker0, [livejournal.com profile] barbarakitten_t, [livejournal.com profile] khadagan, Kim Williams of MarCon, Sally Kobee, [livejournal.com profile] almeda, [livejournal.com profile] alymid, and [livejournal.com profile] billroper & [livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise (all too brief -- literally in passing). Not to mention a whole bunch o' Dorsai besides the several named above, including Chris and Becca and Evil. And, thanks to David with Ops, I finally connected again with Nicole Lenard, the sweetie who created the art for the Fenton Menace T-Shirt.

And I got to meet the wonderful Peter S. Beagle, one of the most soft-spoken, well-spoken gentlemen it has ever been my pleasure to encounter. A fellow who looks at everything with a sense of wonder and delight. (Also met his able assistant, the dynamic Connor Cochran.) We'll have a bit more about Mr. Beagle later in the show.

Many thanks to all the nice folks at CapriCon, especially [livejournal.com profile] singlemaltsilk, [livejournal.com profile] janmagic, the Internet Cafe crew (especially Richard, Rick, and Ann), and to everyone else who helped me out, showed up at my concerts, and shared the good time.

Sorry I didn't see you. I was only there for a few hours on Thursday night, Friday night and Sunday. Not at all on Saturday. I'll be explaining my Saturday whereabouts in a post I'll be making tomorrow.

Books are our friends.

And if you have the cheat sheet in front of you... it's harder to forget the words.

Sounds like it was a great time. It must be nice to be able to attend all the cons you want.

It's an interesting balance -- not so much "all the cons I want" as "all the cons that matter, both personally and professionally". There are some, such as DragonCon and ConGlomeration, where (while I definitely have a good time) the primary motive is making some money... and there are some, like MillenniCon and ConClave, where I am mostly interested in hangin' wit' ma peeps. (And then there's MarCon, where I do both. ;)

It was great to see you again this weekend, and I was thrilled that I got to actually see almost all of your concert (minus the 15 minutes or so that I was schlepping gear back up to the room). Schedules at the last couple of cons have had us kind of at cross-purposes, so it was great to be able to come and sit and laugh my ass off at your songs without having to worry about where I had to be next. :-)

One of these cons, we'll actually have a chance to sit and chat...

Thanks again for letting us run over into the beginning of your timeslot!
