Ohhhhh, this one hurts.

Andreas Katsulas, one of the finest and most underrated actors in America, passed away yesterday from cancer. He was 59. He was excellent in everything he did... but we, fandom, know him best as G'Kar on Babylon 5. He was superb, one of the two best actors (along with Peter Jurasik) in a cast filled with excellent actors, on a show with scripts like nothing we'd ever seen before. G'Kar's evolution from frustrated politician to angry rebel to spiritual leader was one of the most memorable characterizations in TV history... and Katsulas pulled it off while wearing ten pounds of latex.

I weep for a future without him.

If you have any cool memories of him, either from B5, other shows or movies he was in, or at conventions, feel free to share them. My own would be the entire episodes "The Coming of Shadows" and "... And The Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place", and in "The Long Night", when he became a Biblical hero in the midst of Londo's plot against Cartagia.

Update: Confirmation on SciFi Wire.

That's unfortunate. I remember G'Kar fondly, both when he was verbally duelling with Londo and when he was making profound statements in that wonderfully melodic voice of his. I also find that his views on life and philosophy are as applicable in our time as they were in his. This hurts.
