On The Road Again

My Internet's gonna be a bit spotty the next couple of days, although I should find Starbucks and Super 8 motels along the way. Today I head for Houston, TX. Tuesday night, I'll be performing at Oxford Hall. Doors open at 7:30, show starts at 8:00. $10.00 admission, $8.00 with student ID, kids under 12 free.

After that, it's a loop out to Arizona to visit my mom, and then up to Bloomington, MN in time for MarsCon the weekend of March 3-5.

Later next month come MillenniCon in Cincinnati and MidSouthCon in Memphis, and then PenguiCon in Livonia, MI in April, MarCon in Columbus in May, and Duckon in Chicago and AnthroCon in Pittsburgh in June.

Good Christ, I'm touring.

Sadly, no. Outside of Chicago, my attendance is rare at a con aside of a Worldcon. Mere's private school tuition is $1000+ a month, and that eats fun money alive.

Nah. I hate phone browsers. That's why I have a widescreen eMachine. :) And that's why I stop at places that have free Internet.

well, I meant use the phone as a cellular modem actually, ok, it's a step down after broadband [seeing as connections aren't as good even with 3G]...

I think T-mobile do a data&voice plan that's bit more expensive than just voice, but cheaper than getting them seperatly. I know Vodaphone do a data only plan for $49.99/month and you get a free pcm1a cellular card for a laptop... and you could add skype to that for free.

Your call, free internet when you can find it, or internet when you want it for a price.

Incidently, Starbucks over there does free connection? Here we have to pay.

Update: Not happy. When I went to load the van, I noticed (noticed! How could I miss it? The door was off the track) that some shmuck had hit my parked vehicle, badly enough to damage the driver's door trim, knock it off the track, and keep the window from rolling down all the way. Didn't leave a note or anything. Can't even call AAA insurance until Tuesday, because tomorrow's frickin' Presidents Day.

Hell of an omen for the start of the trip.

Big maybe on that one. I don't like the hotel, and I have to pay for it, and it is a consideration. But it's hardly impossible.
