I'll probably go into detail later about Tuscon and the Eloy Red Roof Inn, but... I'm at my Mom's place in suburban Phoenix. Beautiful house, beautiful view, scary-ass 42° driveway. Warm, clear, sunshine. No winter in sight.

Sigh.

I truly hope you're all doing well. What's up for your respective weekends?

Glad to hear that you made it there safely...

As for weekend... Backing up the filk directory on the hard drive (too many tapes not backed up yet), computer show (maybe), getting the ebay sales shipped, watching your Cds on Ebay (seeing how much people want to pay for in print CDs.)....

In other words, relaxing! :)

Have a good time with your family, Tom.

A few weeks from now, it would be a response of running Lunacon '06 or I-Con 25.

Finish a story for the Anthrocon conbook, work on the lawn if weather permits (it's a mess!) and get some development time in on my Xmas 2006 light system. I also have to stay home and watch the kids while my wife is studying for tests at her college.

Finding some low or zero VOC paint to paint our cabinets. A very mobile 1 year old necessitates rearranging the house in a major way, so projects that have been dormant are now top priority.

Wish I were there in Arizona too Tom. It'd be lovely.

Yo baybeee! Didja know my mom lives in Tuscon now? We should organize a joint trip one of these days! :-)

(er - yeah if I *ever* get to go visit her - it's hard with tickets being so expensive and us needing four sigh)

Family stuff, most of it happy.

But wouldn't you know it? There's finally a big deal comic book convention in NYC, and there's no way in heck I can get to any of it. Ah well. Maybe next year.

That's actually how I parsed it at first, until I went back and reread the bit about Phoenix... Of course, it's 41 F here at the moment, so it seemed a perfectly normal temperature, if a bit odd to be specifically mentioning the driveway.

Anyway, my weekend involves helping my girlfriend move, and hopefully a gaming party. Whee.

I can't believe what I am doing this weekend, actually. Tonight I am finally going to start recording vocals and mixing tracks with some of those fine backups you provided.

Then, tomorrow morning by 7 AM...I have to be in Baltimore, so I can hook up with a ride to Comic Con in NYC. There, I will get to see the galley proofs for Attitude 3 and have a beer with Ted Rall. And then I will return the same day.

Then, Sunday, a family gathering. And somewhere in there I will have to write, lay out, and load, at least two comic strips. N'arrrrgh!!!

Going to CONDFW. I'm taking my 11 year old niece, a budding fan, to her first ever con. She's still at the point of being thrilled that there other people who think about what happened after the story ended, or want to make up their own songs and stories set in these worlds.

Most probably, sitting around with the girls while Donna heads over to Third Place to study all weekend. If I had any money whatsoever, I'd think about taking them down to Soundbridge, but that will have to wait until a financially-more-auspicious occasion.

(Besides, last time I took the girls to Seattle by myself, I had a migraine attack. But I can't let that stop me, right? :-) )

It's looking like I won't. But thanks for standing by. It would have been great. But since I could not travel to record, Tom helped me out with backing tracks remotely.

I haven't heard a thing from PenguiCon btw and so it's looking like maybe I will skip it and go to RavenCon that weekend. They dangled a carrot for me in December, then radio silence. Kinda torques me, because I really like the con, but they're not the only penguin on the ice floe. If that happens, I guess it will be a while before we cross paths again. :(

And I'll be happy to sax for you another time, if you need it on future releases. :)

Hey that couldn't hurt at all. I WANT to go to PenguiCon, but as I told Matt and Bill when they were wooing me at PhilCon; I also WANT to go to RavenCon. A lot. So they mentioned they might find Nifty status and/or lodging for me to tip the scales in their favor and I said, yeah, that would swing it their way. But aside from one email in January I have not heard a thing.

If you feel like sounding them out for me, then I'd be grateful. Maybe we can make it happen yet. Thanks.

Would you mind forwarding me the message from January? That would give me a good jumping off point. :) Send to hope.dundas@umich.edu.

If they can't come up with lodging for you, we could probably work something out - I'm always looking for ways to cut costs, and haven't figured out rooming arrangements yet.

It's gone. I have what I sent them but not their reply. I must have read it on webmail and not at home.

Anyway, I got a generic email on a different account offering that ridiculous "reduced fee badge" for program participants. (I wish they could understand how insulting that is. There must be another way to squeeze 3-400 bucks out of the con without gouging the people who make it happen. I go to about 25 different cons and they are the only ones who do that. It's bollocks.)

If that's all they're offering, I am going to RavenCon. I'll send one more email in and let Matt know how it looks from my end and see if he cares to do anything about it. I think you're off the hook.
