I have to see that movie for the title alone.

After viewing the clip on that site, I can definitely say I will not be going to be Snakes on a Plane - I'm not afraid to fly, and I'd like it to stay that way.

Snakes are just *so* maligned. A snake on a plane is going to be curled up in the warmest spot it can find, and will NOT want to come out.

Then again, when a boy brought his garter snake to school and it escaped out of his pocket in the coatroom, I was the one who found it, carried it out and asked the teacher innocently, "Do you know who lost their snake?"

I seriously like snakes, though I prefer the nonvenemous sort as a rule.

It's already at about 400,000 Google hits, which is some indication of the massive groundswell of free publicity across the blogosphere.

Whether it bombs at the box office, of course...

Still, everyone who's anyone has heard the name. That's got to count for something.

What tells me this film will work are these three words.. Samuel L Jackson.

Course he was also in SW1-3 so perhaps that doesn't mean it'll work...

Frankly, I'm not sure if I've ever heard of a movie concept that made me less interested in seeing the movie. I wouldn't be surprised to hear, after the movie bombs, that its genesis was a bunch of Hollywood producers out drinking, trying to top one another with who could come up with the worst movie idea, and the one who proposed this took a bet to actually get it made.

Why this movie really is a horror story

Hollywood probably doesn't know or care about this, but these types of movies create a flood of misinformation that an amazing number of people are dumb enough to believe. I work at a science center in Florida and spend a considerable amount of time teaching children and adults about animals such as reptiles. Every time a movie like this comes out I spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to dispel all of the misinformation that it creates. Snakes, sharks, spiders, scorpions it's amazing what people believe from these movies. If you can watch a film like this and enjoy it that's fine, but PLEASE don't believe all of the crap they make up to make these animals seem scary. People still ask me if anacondas really regurgitate their food so they can kill it again(thank you the movie "Anaconda") Well that's my soapbox for the day.

I do reptile education... this I'm sure will just be more fodder for the ignorant and will have to be trained out of people's small minds. :) Of course, I'm probably a contributor. I've also done snake handling for a tv show, and part of the scene I did was "snakes in a chicken coop in Texas" and we were using over 30 snakes, only three of which were even native to the area... but damn, film work pays well! =)

Wow. Hollywood has, in fact, completely run out of good ideas.

That's awful.

Oh, to this I must add...

The EU recently named a list of airlines banned from flying to Europe. These included:

Phuket Airlines
Reem Air
Cargo Bull
Thom's Airlines
Air Rum
Uhuru Airlines

...and of course:

Paramount Airlines (There are snakes on that plane! No, no, no...that's New Line Cinema Air... Drat.)
