How glorious it must be to get paid for writing headlines like this:
Naked mole-rat exhibit opens at Tenn. zoo
(Yes, the headline on the actual story is different from the one above, which was the teaser on Yahoo's news widget. Which was written by a guy at Yahoo. Whose job I want.)

Seen any good, goofy headlines this week?

And now I have the "Naked Mole Rap" running through my head.

BBC SAYS: SEXTERMINATE!

The BBC had a DVD removed from the market, involving busty babes and Daleks.

"[Terry Nation's] Estate director Tim Hancock said: “The reason the Daleks are still the most sinister thing in the universe is because they do not make things like porn.

“They weren’t ever intended to be sexual creatures. It’s simple, Daleks do not do porn.”

That's tellin' 'em!

BWAH!!

And it's pure sour grapes, I'm tellin' ya. I'ts all because Nation retained the rights to the Daleks himself, and was a bloody tyrant to the Beeb about them. We were shocked to our toenails that his estate actually has actually allowed the new series to use them *gasp* without Davros!!!

(Errr... the mere existence of Daleks in the new series doesn't count as a Stateside spoiler, does it?)

No, but only because last week they ran the promo for "Next week on Dr. Who" which shows us the first Dalek we have seen in the new series. [Happy Dance!]

I don't suppose the chap who played Davros originally is alive and/or working anymore, but then again it really could be anybody behind the latex appliances and audio modulator. Am I likely to be strung up by my toenails for heresy?

Ah, that's right. Thought we'd seen that on a Skiffy promo, but wasn't positive.

As for Davros, I'm pretty sure he was played by at least two people on the old series, so I think you're safe from the auto-da-fé. ;-)

"Shop worker finds cocaine instead of bananas." Not terribly funny unless you've recently been exposed to the truly terrifying video at http://tallyhall.com/video.php -- click on the Banana Man music video if you want your eyeballs to hurt.

but i felt i should comment. I love naked mole rats. they are in fact one of the most fascinating creatures in the animal kingdom. I hate the ones at the local zoo, because they used to have 40 or so, and now they have 5. It's just so sad, naked mole rats are so desperately insanely social, they look miserable.

we have naked mole rats here, but their numbers have been dwindling. I think there's only about 8 now - they live in huge colonies.

I spotted a very nice "DUH" headline today in the Washington Post:
