PenguiCon prep, in a nutshell. I fly in less than 24 hours and I am woefully unprepared. O_o;

Pegasus Brainstorming Poll

From: [identity profile] filker0.livejournal.com
Which closes at the end of Friday, I believe.

We really need as many submissions as we can get. The nominating ballot depends on it.

Lots of people who might deserve a Pegasus. Lots of songs, too. What's everyone else's opinion? We'd like to know!

The Kiltie Band (http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/kiltie/) concert is today at 3:30, at Carnegie Mellon's (http://www.cmu.edu) Spring Carnival (http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/org/carnival/). I'm a band alumni, so I show up to listen to the good tunes. It's always good playing, which is impressive because there's no audition to get into the band. Everyone in the band wants to be there, and wants to sound good.

There's always at least one showtune or musical medly, some LOUD marching band music, and then a scattering of interesting pieces. One year we did Grand Serenade for an Awful Lot of Wind and Percussion. Hehehe.

I've been sick since Sunday night with some type of flu-like thingy. Not fun, but it appears to have affected my judgement because last night, for whatever reason, I watched Unan1mous.

It was just as annoying and dumb as the previews made it look.

And now that this virus is finally out of my system I never have to watch it again.

I'm all annoyed at the examples of bad and stupid grammar on your previous thread. :)

I *have* to find a carpool for some of my son's activities. Gas is $2.95 a gallon here.

Yeah, it's about $2.85-2.89 out here as well. Although the CostCo has it for $2.78 for members, and I also think I'm only a couple of tanks at Speedway from earning a 50¢-per-gallon discount for the tank after that.

Lots of fussiness and woe, and I think my stupid email server has been eating my messages again, so if I haven't replied to something, I beg thee, resend it.

Also, I go to pick up the corset for my Agatha Clay costume next weekend, so that's pretty cool.

Server headache at work, getting a bit of free time (lots of unplanned and emergency level tech support occuring on my end) so I can get back to the filk projects I have in the works. (Cleanup of the last audio session I have done with friends for their 2nd and 3rd CDs.)

At this point, I think the theory of being able to colapse for an evening is becoming the priority on my mind. :)

Unemployment. Iran. Not really related, but definitely what's on my mind. Funny how I'm far more terrified of what my own so-called government will do next than I am of any terrorist, real or imagined.

The terrorists, they can kill me. Nifty.

The government can grind my soul down, make me despised by every other nation on earth, take away my rights and make me a virtual slave, destroy any opportunities I have to better my situation, and THEN kill me.

On my mind today...

Would you like to remember what it's like to be a child?
Would you like to "relive your childhood"?
It's actually very simple...

Get on you hands and knees and CRAWL for a week!

That will remind you of what childhood is like. Everything you want is just out of reach. You have to YELL just to be heard. And every time you turn around, there's another GIANT looming over and telling you what you shouldn't, musn't and can't do.

And that's under IDEAL circumstances! That's not even taking into account things like war, poverty, famine, genocide, disease, molesters, predators and an untold MILLIONS of other horrors this world can provide.

Is it any wonder why the world is in such a sorry state?
Childhood is enough to damage anyone.

Nerd Needs Cameraperson

A thousand pardons, oh Great and Noble Filking Lord. I am not worthy to post this request that only serves my selfish ends, but I have no where else to turn and so I throw myself upon your mercy and the good charity of those who post here.

Here is the deal. I need to video tape myself attending Penguicon and generally being a nerd. I have a friend in Wyoming who I PROMISED to send them a tape of the next Con. I went to. Unfortunately, both my primary and my back up camera guys backed out at the last moment. So, If you are planning to go to Penguicon and would be willing to help me out I would be eternally grateful. I could probably pay you a little and feed you too.

I have a couple of things I want to make sure are filmed (Dancing for Geeks) but I am pretty flexible. If you think you can help please email dploski@ameritech.net or call 248-477-1791 (ask for Joe) Yes, I know you never post that stuff in public but I am desparate.

Tom, thanks for being such a nice guy and letting today be open forum day. I look forward to seeing your concerts.
