Also, better than Stargate and the new Trek movie. :-)

Bah. It'll never match Galactica: 1980. :)

I'm approaching the spinoff warily. I don't like prequels as a general rule. And I would prefer that they didn't make the Adama family the center of the impending rebellion. While it would explain the family hatred of the Cylons, the writers are hamstrung because they can't have the Cylons do _too_ much to the Adama family, else there's no continuity to BG.

I'd watch it, just to see how it goes. I like good backstories.

That's part of the retelling, [livejournal.com profile] siliconshaman. Humans created their own worst nightmare, basically. I find it makes it more interesting than 'random robots from outer spaaaaaace' that the original series supposed they were.

It's been shown in the UK. On Sky, as I recall.

And you can find the pilot and the first season and a half on various file sharing networks. That's how I saw the first half of season 1 before it started airing in the states.

It's also out on DVD (at least the pilot and first season) so you could try renting it too.

Worst case drop me an email and I'll see about shipping you something.

As long as Dirk Benedict isn't in it, we're good to go.
