And now the really fun one.

What are your favorite online comics? Please provide links (unless a link has been provided in an earlier post). I'll start with:Note the distinct lack of Sluggy Freelance, a situation I am forced to because for over a year and a half I have not been able to make the slightest sense of the damn strip. Will someone please get Pete Abrams a new pharmacologist or somethin'?

http://www.achewood.com/ Achewood is wierd but consistantly well-drawn and deliberately surrealist

http://www.clv-comic.com/index.php C'est La Vie is sweet and silly and sarcastic and fun

http://www.ozyandmillie.org/ Ozy and Millie is IMHO the new Calvin and Hobbes

http://www.friendlyhostility.com/ Friendly Hostility can be a little awkward on the transitions but the art is great.

http://www.evil-comic.com/ Evil Inc makes me think a little bit of The Last Hero On Earth

http://www.scarygoround.com/ I have kind of a scary crush on the guy who writes Scary Go Round.

While it's done with, I always had a huge place in my heart for Queen of Wands (http://www.queenofwands.net/), and is definitely worth a read. The art isn't to my liking, but the story and jokes transcended that, which is a rare thing, for me.

Most of your choices cover the other strips I check out on an occasional basis.

But I would be remiss if I didn't also mention the Wotch (http://www.thewotch.com), since it's done a crossover with Accidental Centaurs (Which I don't read), and because it's by friends of mine. ;) Geeky, mostly well written, and some of the better art out there.

The Comic/blog Overcompensating, brought to you live from a mansion in a swamp (slightly NWS). Some times guest-starring the Poopmonster of Diesel Sweeties (http://www.dieselsweeties.com/) and "The Gentleman" of Scary Go Round.

Greg Dean's Real Life (http://www.reallifecomics.com/).

I Drew This (http://idrewthis.org/), by D. C. Simpson. Rather cutting Lefty wit from the guy what does Ozy & Millie.

The Last Days of FOXHOUND aka, Gigaville (http://www.gigaville.com/comic.php), a Metal Gear Solid fan-comic. It's almost sad that Decoy Octopus (http://www.gigaville.com/characters.php) gets more lines in the comic than he(?) ever had in the game.

The mostly toy oriented Shortpacked! (http://www.shortpacked.com/), by David Willis. Batman (http://www.shortpacked.com/d/20050311.html) is always funny.

And Shine Heaven Now (http://hellsing.comicgenesis.com/), a doujinshi based on Hellsing (the Anime/Manga, NOT the movie Van Hellsing).

It's rarely up-dated, but Kill Harry (http://kungfool.transpect.net/webpages/stuff/hk19.html) (a Kill Bill/Harry Potter crossover) is very entertaining.

Now for a few LJ comics;

The New Adventures of Queen Victoria (http://tnaoqv.livejournal.com/). Clip art at its royalest.

This has to be the strangest paring I've ever seen, but the toy-based Abe & Kroenen (http://abe-kroenen.livejournal.com/23369.html#cutid1) makes it work...

And a plug for my own work in progress, Side Quests (http://side-quests.livejournal.com/2293.html).

I think it's neat that of the 10 comics Tom mentioned (counting Sluggy and eliding my own) I have personally met and/or shared a panel with the creators of 8 of them. By my count, this is also true of 19 of the other comics mentioned in this thread (I'm talking physical, meatspace meeting and chatting). I've had meaningful discussions by electronic means with another half dozen or so. This is one of the best aspects of doing a webcomic.

But I must stick up for Sluggy a little bit. Yeah, I was never pleased with Oceans Unmoving. But that plot is finally over. What I would consider "Classic Sluggy" returned on March 6th and it has been firing on all cylinders and a little bit of nitrous since. Please, ye lost Sluggites, consider picking it up from that link and going forward with Sluggy again. It's back to being a daily joy instead of a daily brow-furrowed headscratch and sigh.

Now, my personal recommendations for grossly underappreciated works among webcomics:

Big Fat Whale - Great political and social humor
Mitch in Wonderland - If Friends had not had network censors
Fuzzy Knights - Role playing plushies in occasional action adventures
The Splendid Everlasting - Webcomic noir, surreal and funny
Sordid City Blues - Practically the only non-gag story comic I read
The Adventures of Pathos and Bathos - I cannot write like this and I wish I could
Leisure Town - This has to be the most hardcore, subversive, anarchic webcomic there ever was. If you read no-other comic I list, make yourself read a few Leisure Towns. It will alter you in subtle ways, I promise.

And I would just like to add, to any of you who follow these links and check out these amazing and diverse comics...try to picture any of them on the comics page of your local metropolitan daily. It's what I'm so upset about in my other post. Reading what's possible in webcomics is the best way to see just how bad that Puritanical fascism of the comics page really is.

Seeing as how everything else I read has been mentioned here, I'm sure...

Digger (http://www.graphicsmash.com/series.php?name=digger), by Ursula Vernon ([livejournal.com profile] ursulav, yay!)
Wombats! Dead gods! Oracular slugs! Liver jokes! Who could ask for more?
Beautiful, whimsical, poigniant, quirky, thrilling, and prone to the occasional vampire squash attack. (Recently been nominated for an Eisner, canyabelieveit.)

Her website (http://www.metalandmagic.com/) is also well worth the gander, for such marvels as The Bog Unicorn (http://www.metalandmagic.com/modules.php?set_albumName=beastiary&id=bogunicorn&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php&PHPSESSID=90b7dced4f92e468e9db33e1752a8484), The Smallrus (http://www.metalandmagic.com/modules.php?set_albumName=beastiary&id=smallrus&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php&PHPSESSID=90b7dced4f92e468e9db33e1752a8484), as well as The Wombat Tarot, and Battle Hamsters series. (http://www.metalandmagic.com/modules.php?set_albumName=anthromorphic&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&page=1&PHPSESSID=90b7dced4f92e468e9db33e1752a8484)

usr/bin/w00t (http://w00t.chaobell.net/), while no longer being made, still holds a special place in my heart. I'll re-read it from the beginning at least once a year. Along with that, the creator, Chaobell, has since gone on to make Silent Hill: Bridge Of Thread (http://silenthill.chaobell.net/), a rather compelling and creepy story, based upon the Silent Hill series of videogames (while not necessarily requiring any prior knowledge of the SH universe, though it doesn't hurt).

Crap I Drew On My Lunch Break (http://crap.jinwicked.com/) - hilarious, cute, some videogame jokes, but mostly not
