Spoilerific. I genuinely don't know if this is gonna be good... but it looks good. Some stilted dialogue, some good acting, some bad acting. I'm pleased that Storm is coming to the forefront. I like the little bit of Kitty vs. Juggernaut, who doesn't look nearly as bad as I feared. And Sir Ian, again, rocks.

So, of the Big Three summer genre movies (X3, Superman Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest), which are you looking forward to most? I think with me it's this one, just because I fear Pirates will focus on Jack Sparrow's goofiness and because Superman still isn't grabbin' me (and I'm the audience).

I laughed out loud at that ... and in a good way.

I am most looking forward to Pirates.
X3 is going to go one of two ways .. either brilliant or awful.
Superman Returns only interests me a bit, I'll probably wait for 2nd run to see it.
But I expect to see both X3 and PotC in first run, which I don't do much.

I'm with you on the Kitty vs. Juggy thing, and I liked some of the other references and inside jokes, but Henry McCoy as Secretary of Mutant Affairs?

Having had some on-set reports from Pirates, what we're seeing in the trailer -is- some of the goofy stuff, but there are apparently some segments that are really terrifying, and besides, "Elizabeth" gets to kick some serious weird-sea-creature a$$.

Superman, I'm just taking a wait-and-see on. I really -want- it to be good.

I have to say, I LOVE the fact that the first thing I heard Beast say was complimenting a hairstyle, hehe.

And I concur with the X3. I'm concerned too that Pirates 2 and 3 were filmed together; it kind of means that the screenplays were rushed, IMHO

Most looking forward to Superman Returns. It has the most capacity to be good... and the chance to disappoint me the most, as well.
I don't have a lot of investment in Pirates, so while it can't really disappoint me greatly, it probably won't do more than be amusing, either.
I'm giving X3 a pass. I'm one of those heathens who didn't like X2, after all.

X-3 and Pirates are tied for me. Each one could turn out to be REALLY good-- or truly awful. Superman... I have hopes for, but not really high, you know?

X-Men has the SLIGHT edge over Dead Man's Chest. It's really close between them...but they got me excited enough over X3. I'll at both, though.

Superman...meh.

I won't be seeing X3...

They *were* going to have it about the Phoenix Saga, until Halle Berry basically said "I want to be THE star!", so they basically had to write an entirely new script. There goes the Phoenix Saga -.-

I admit that I haven't got that much problem with Halle being the star. What I have a problem with is that they're cramming at least two movies worth of plotline into this one.

I was looking forward to Pirates until I saw the trailer. Now I cringe when I think about going to see it. And Superman does very little for me.

X3 I hold high hopes for. Quite excited.

Dude, Jack Sparrow's goofiness is all part of his charm!

And besides, it's Johnny Depp! One of the ONLY men in the world I'd bat on the other team for!

RrrrrrRRRROOOOWWWRRrrrr!!!

X3, Superman, Pirates, in that order. X3 I'll see unless the reviews really, really such. Pirates I won't see unless the reviews are good. Supes is still up in the air (pun intended).

In order of anticipation:

Pirates - even if it's bad Johnny Depp ensures it'll be entertaining. And it'll be pretty regardless.

X-3 - I thought Juggernaut looked good. And oh... Angel! But sometimes the whole oppressed mutants thing gets up my nose.

Superman - I want this to be good but... I'm with you on the not grabbing.

Definitely X3, mainly because I've known it was coming for longer. Superman Returns is a close second. I am NOT going to see the Pirates of the Caribbean movie; I didn't like the first one. :P

The Pirates trailer kinda killed it for me. The first movie was all about the FX serving the plot, acting and characters. The second seems to be about the characters twisted into serving the plot, which in turn is subservient to the FX.

"Ah, shoot a bunch of footage and give it to the CGI guys, see if they can make a film out of it."

And while a trailer's-worth of film really isn't enough to confirm or deny any particular aspect, Depp really seemed to be phoning in his performance.

Meh. Maybe it won't be so bad when it comes out.

Personally, I would have liked to see a pair of prequels. One with Jack Sparrow vs the East India Company as he searches for the Pearl (set perhaps five years previous), and an earlier one (ten, eleven years?) showing the beginning of his career, acquiring the compass, showing up in Tortuga for the first time, sailing with Bootstrap Bill (Orlando, I swear, you look just like him) and showing the mutiny.

Of course, that would mean dropping Kiera Knightley (or reassigning her to another role), which is probably something the producers would have trouble with.

Pirates, because I like swashbuckler films.

X-Men and Superman are tied in that "could go either way" category. I hope they're good, or at least good enough, but it would be so easy to turn bad.

And on movies like this I never go by the trailers too much. Seen some very exciting trailers for some very bad movies, and the opposite is also true, and I _never_ go by professional reviews! Far too many times they've trashed my favorite movies or praised shows I couldn't wait to leave after ten minutes. I go by forums like this and friends.

But what I'm really looking forward to is a fan production of "The Last Hero on Earth." I mean, if fans can make a Cthulhu movie and a trek/babylon movie, why not a musical?

Looking forward to Pirates... not much there could let me down. Who doesn't love Pirates??? I think we all have high hopes for Superman.

Ironically of them all the X-Men was the one film I had all but forgotten about until recently but it now looks like it may be the more solid of the other too.

Time will tell the tale.

I'll have to say that, of the three, Pirates interests me the most, because it's all the same team - not just the actors, the director and screenwriters are the same. And I liked the trailers I've seen. I'm holding out some hope for Superman because Bryan Singer has done solid work in the past, and because he has a clear vision of what he wants. The X3 preview on Fox had some good stuff, but didn't really excite me.

The movie I'm most looking forward to this summer is The Science of Sleep, because it's written and directed by Michael Gondry, who directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

As should be obvious by now, I think the writer and director have more impact on the quality of a movie than the actors.

Then it'll be X3, and save the other "Big" films for the summer at another time.

Either X3 or Superman... despite the fact that I'm usually a DC person, it's very close, because I like what they've done with the X-movies so far.
