Update: Wait, nope, I guess it's not -- I fully endorse the idea of kicking the white religious zealots out of power. Guess you're right, Falafel Boy. Except for the part where you make it sound like getting rid of a power structure designed to protect the wealth and influence of entrenched, self-gentrified, feudal-minded, superstitious, bigotted rich folks like yourself is a bad thing.

Other than him having the crazy idea that continuing to allow illegal immigrants to come into this country and work for more rich white people as virtual slaves to keep them rich is somehow going to change things...
Since illegal immigrants don't vote, theres no real connection. But the idea that at least some of us left wing nuts believe the power structure MUST FALL for us to progress as a society isn't so crazy. Sorry to disagree with you Tom. Nor do I think it's racist.

Okay, I'm a mostly white female of pagan persuasion. I'm ridiculously lefty - except I think everyone should own guns and have them strapped to their chest as they walk down the street. I think it would help people watch what shit falls out of their mouths a bit more closely.

But that's a different point all together.

White people aren't bad. Men aren't bad. Christians aren't bad. I am going to go out on a limb here and say thta white male christians might even have done some good things from time to time. To suggest otherwise is just another kind of racism.

What we need here is a truly diverse approach. It has to stop being an us against them kind of thing and start being more of a "we" kind of thing.

I agree, mostly -- I'm very much of the "everyone does better when everyone does better" persuasion; I want to save the world for everybody, even those who would stop me. On the other hand, I also believe there is a certain core of old white guys who have to have the power dragged out of their palsied, griping clutches if we are to have any success in doing that.

I spoke to my mom on Mother's Day, and am pleased to report that she has finally recovered from her drift into the realm of Kool-Ade drinkers... in fact, recovered to the point where she said she's ready to vote for Hillary in '08. She made an interesting comment--"Two hundred years of men really haven't done so good. Maybe people are ready to give her a chance, for a change."

So it's not just the "lefties" who are sick to the teeth of O'Lie-lly and his ilk... it's the ones who helped put them there.

I wouldn't want to disparage anyone's mother, but I feel a need to address the comment. 200 years, so I imagine it has to do with the history of our country rather than the world in general.

I have to say, I think the past leadership of this country HAS done pretty well, taken in the aggregate. In 1806, things may not have gone so well, but I think we've had it better on average than just about everyone else over the last 200 years.

That being said, I think it will be important when the first female/non-white/non-Christian is elected President.

Though this time around, I may not help it happen. Why? Do a quick Google search for "clinton" and "video games" and you'll see. I may not be 'starting up a posse' in response, but whatever points she thought to gain from grandstanding against my hobby are balanced by those she lost from people like me while doing it.
