I'll see it this Saturday; I'm gonna see the potential-disaster-waiting-to-happen known as X3 on Friday

Just saw it with my kids. It was much, much better than I had anticipated. I loved Thomas Church Haden's character. Steve Carrell was great as Hammy and Eugene Levy was fantastic.

One one quibble was that they decided to let the porcupines shoot their quills.

Yeah, that really messed up the verisimilitude. ;)

I'm gonna be needlessly pedantic

Were any actually shot? The only quills I saw flying were plucked off the kid porcupine by the THX sound (yes, it's only slightly more plausible than them being fired, but I don't think they got it exactly wrong either...)

Or were some fired during one of the musical montages?

My gaming group went last night: it was great seeing better than half of them convulsing and crying with laughter.

It was OK. I got tired of the chase scenes and the running gags (particularly how they kept showing a view from space) but it kept me entertained. Also, I feel like they might have stolen the hyper-caffeination device from Futurama. The sound track was great; Ben Folds was a good choice. Voice acting was high quality, particularly William Shatner and Steve Carrell. I don't regret going to this instead of the DaVinci Code. That looks like a bore.

Oh good! I'm so glad to hear you say that since we plan to go see it over Memorial Day at a drive in! :-)

Steve Carell OWNED this flick

Won't say much since this appears to be a spoiler-free thread, but when Steve Carell can make the entire audience go from absolute side-splitting laughter to a slightly sad and empathetic "Awwwwwwwwww" (eveyone who's seen it should know what part I'm talking about), that says a whole lot.

This film is currently the first one on our holiday DVD list...

I tell ya. This is one of the ones that, if it had been available at the concession after, I would own right now. Fun fun fun.

Yeah, why couldn't Mark Cuban get involved with THIS flick? :)
