Okay, let's have it out, canon a-blazin'. The first official Digital Acoustic LJ Rumble.

Harry/Ginny or Harry/Hermione? Give as much or as little reason as you like. (And, if Harry/Hermione, Ron/who?)

Exactly. Harry's the main attraction. Why can't he have them all? :-D

Truth to tell, I was so disappointed with Book 6, I'm not even looking forward to book 7 anymore. I mean, I'll get it and read it, but jeeze.

Oh, it's Harry/Ginny —— Ron/Hermione. The relationship is a cross-gendered version of the one in Pride & Prejudice where the Weasley's = the Bennet's as the screwball family, and Harry and Hermione as the long-time best friends.

Either that or it's Harry/Hermione, in a cross-gendered version of EMMA, with Harry as Emma (because, let's face it, he's always clueless) and Hermione as Mr. Knightley :)

Hermione/someone who appreciates her (ergo NOT Harry and definitely NOT RON)
Ron/His Right Hand
Ginny/Her Massive Ego

Note to canonwhores: I know H/D will never be canon, okay? You don't have to tell me. But Harry spends way more time discussing how Draco looks, what Draco does, what Draco is wearing, &c, than he ever did either of the girls. And if all those Ron/Hermione people are right that Bickering is a Sign of True Love, I rest my case.

Eh. Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermionie are the obvious ones. They're also the most likely to be canonical, although frankly, since the books are purely for entertainment as are the shipfics, who cares? Hey, go crazy. You believe that hatred really is a thin veneer over repressed longings of the love that dare not speak its name? Go for Lupin/Snape. For that matter, just how close a history did certain people have in their past? The deepest enmity can be born from the strongest love once lost: Dumbledore/Voldemort. Feeling adventurous, ladies? I'm sure the Brothers Weasley can keep you supplied in Pepperup Potions if you go Fred/George/(insert female redhead fen here).

I've wondered if a Fred/George double team would be like Tenacious D's "Double Team":

Take off your robe,
And your underpants,
Then take a look,
'Cause here come F and G out naked,
Out of the side-hatch,
With the spells and toffee and wheezes.
Now you're groovin',
Put on a cool Hogwarts groove.

I ship Harry/Ginny and Hermione/Ron. Face it, the latter has been set up for several books now. And what better for Harry than to marry into his best friend's family? Classic! Um ... that's assuming the four of them survive book seven, of course ..... 8

I don't like Harry/Ginny (actually I mostly just don't like Ginny). I think Ron and Hermione belong together. I'm not sure who Harry should be with. Someone outside of the scope of the current cast of the books, probably.

Harry/Ginny, why not? I'm not sure who to wish the Harry of the last few books on, and at least Ginny's stood up to him once or twice. Hermione/NOT RON or Harry- let her find someone who deserves her.

Mostly, I like what's in the books.

First, Harry/Hermione isn't something I think would work. Let's assume that Voldemort will, indeed, be defeated in book 7, and that Harry will play a major, if not the major, part in that. This will cement for all time that Harry is HARRY POTTER, most beloved hero in the magical community. No way is Hermione going to be happy living the rest of her life in someone's shadow. The fact that Harry doesn't want to cast that big a shadow is irrelevant. It's going to be there.

Not a lot of time has been spent developing Ginny, I grant. But she does have one advantage. (Well, two, if you count the obvious one that Harry's attracted to her.) She's known Harry long enough that she doesn't hold him in awe, and he needs that.

Hermione/Ron? Yeah, it looks way too unequal right now. Maybe in book 7 he'll do something to prove himself, and boost his confidence.

I dunno. She held him in awe in the first two books and we thought she'd got over it--till the barfomatic confession at the end of HBP.

Harry/Hermione/Ron -- OT3 all the way. After all they've been through (will go through) together, how could you possibly break them up? You brute.

That said, I figure Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione is the way it'll actually go.

Harry/Hermione, but it won't work out and end in a messy divorce. Then Harry/Pansy, who snares Harry on the rebound after the divorce while trying to latch onto the fame and fortune, but that will only last six months, tops, before she divorces him and tries to start her own career as the ex-Mrs Potter. Then after being depressed a lot, Ginny comes to the rescue and marries him, but then she dies not long after. Then Harry Hermione again, mostly out of sympathy. Then Ginny comes back to life (or was never dead, it's magic so something happened) and during the groom-custody battle the girls decide neither wants Harry and all three go their separate ways. Then Harry ends up writing science fiction books and goes on the con circuit for the rest of his life to fill the void.

Harry/Tragic Death at the end of book 7. No romance, no everlasting love, just angst so thick you can eat it with a fork. Perhaps a dying confession of his true, unrequited love for.... just about anybody; it's still going to be painful and melodramatic and there will be tears on all sides and I'll roll around in it like a cat in a whole field of 'nip.

Ron/Hermione. But only after Ron wakes the hell up, realizes that being a sidekick is not only not-bad, but in fact the best way to get your shining moment of glory and still come out of an epic series sane and in one piece, and spends a year or so begging her forgiveness.

Neville/Ginny. Because Neville deserves someone, and Luna's a bit *too* flaky. She can go pair off with Cho, and cut through her miserable whining with the bluntness that it deserves.

The twins can come home with me. :)

Not Harry/Ginny, although she's gotten better as she's grown up. Not quite so crush-y. Harry/Luna, maybe -- she's not going to be too bothered by the 'fame'. Not Harry/Hermione, either; she needs someone she can actually talk to, but also needs to be sat on once in a while, and Harry won't do it -- he'll ignore her (Charlie or Bill maybe?). Ron's a twerp, although he might grow out of it -- the Weasleys seem to be late maturing. I wish we'd seen more of Pansy in canon, though. I can see some indications that a match with Harry might work, since she handles Draco as well as anyone.

Draco is flaming, and Harry just might be flying for the other team -- he reminds me somewhat of a couple of friends who came out after college, and he's certainly obsessed with Draco.

harry/hermione. harry/ginny just makes my head hurt. i can't really explain why, that's just how it is in my mind. i see that pairing also leading to the ron/jack daniels pairing down the road, however, but i do admit angst is one of my guilty pleasures.

Wow, this has been surprisingly not-angry! Kudos to all.

That said, though I went through about five minutes of H/Hr-ism, I'm now firmly in the Ron/Hermione camp. I can see how H/Hr could work, but I don't think it would work as well canonically as R/Hr, and in addition, I just think those two crazy kids are gonna make it. :-)

Harry/Luna
Hermione/Ron
Ginny/career

Luna's the only one of the lot that can really face, not physical, but psychological fire the way Harry has to. If you like, her madness is durable.
Hermione and Ron's been brewing from book one. It's a yin-yang relationship in classic style.
Ginny came kind of out of nowhere, but she is extremely driven and awesome. If I were writing her, I wouldn't hook her up in a permarelationship the year before NEWTS. And I absolutely wouldn't make her wait for a guy who has blown her off and *might be dying* in a year's time.
