"People taking pleasure in your pain!"

As long as he doesn't start doing Viagra commercials. Bob Dole was bad enough!

Will there be a mugshot? I mean, c'mon...this guy could be joining the ranks of Gary "I don't need a helmet" Busey and Jan "working for scotch" Michael "or gin" Vincent.

It's getting more & more plausable to me

That Rush is really a character creation by someone trying to make conservatives look absurd, and the conservatives aren't getting the joke.

1). He avoided military service because of a cyst on his ass.
2). He worked as a radio talk show host, despite being hard of hearing
3). He has repeatedly made opinions known on how we shouldn't coddle drug users -- and he IS one.
4). Even the name has absurd connotations. (Rush, a verb meaning hurry and implying shoddy quality. Limbaugh, just a few letters off of "limberger" cheesy & stinky)

Yeah, it was Viagra. And while I don't like Limbaugh, I don't like how this is being handled. I carry Viagra- I got it legally as a sample from my doctor for my darling spouse to use. It came in a blister pack that had no patient information on it. I carry it with me in a small breath mint tin to prevent crushing them in the blister pack. I've carried it through airports a couple of times, never considering having something like what happened to Limbaugh happen to me. I've also transferred my own prescriptions into other bottles to take with me only what I needed for a trip, leaving the labeled bottle at home. I don't think I should risk arrest for the way I choose to handle my own medications. Had they caught him with some form of opiate, which I believe he should be off of at this point, they'd have a valid concern. Anyone who doesn't recognize that the little blue diamond is what it is is sadly ignorant in current culture.

Putting a fine point on it: Mr. Limbaugh is a probationer. That means he is — by terms of his probation — treated differently than a person who has not earlier run afoul of the law.

If the news accounts are correct, the man violated the terms of his probation. The results of his behavior are deadly serious. I'm sure we'll hear what the judge in his prior case thinks.

He wasn't carrying them loose, from what it said. They were in a script bottle *in his doctor's name*. Which makes one wonder what other drugs his doctors are willing to prescribe for *themselves* and give to him.

And having travelled with my mother, who took a bazzillon prescription drugs, I *always* left them in the original bottles. Must less dangerous that way, and should we have been 'stuck' somewhere, much easier to get a prescription transfered.

Don't take it through Customs, then, if it isn't in a prescription bottle with your name on it, because they will confiscate it, just the same as they'd take away meat products or fruits and vegetables.

To be perfectly blunt, this wasn't airport security that detained him, it was US Customs. It's their job to look for illegal drugs. Having a prescription drug in packaging that isn't a prescription bottle with your name on the label is definitely suspect, since having prescription drugs you're not authorised to have is illegal.

If you have something that even looks like it might be illegal drugs, don't take it across international borders. Hate to say this, but speaking as a non-US citizen and frequent US border-crosser, US Customs goons are such pricks anyway, you'd be a fool to risk it in the first place.

That said, you probably wouldn't be arrested because you're (probably) not on probation, though.

Yes, but the answer "Viagra" is nowhere _near_ as satisfying as the answer "Oxycontin." Although it does mean you can assert that he was thinking with his other head...

But then you can still mess with their minds. "Viagra? You mean Rush is actively participating in sex outside of marraige? But didn't he say such people were sinful, evil and morally bankrupt?"

You get them either way ;-)

Seriously though I'll second [livejournal.com profile] unclelumpy on this - people are still listening to him why?

And if you were a borderline psychotic fascist, who would YOU rather jerk off to?
