Damn..another one I WANT to see, but don't want to get my hopes up TOO high...

I was REALLY hoping for a Mouth scene there at the end of it. :-P

Doesn't look to me like he's doing Venom. Just the Black Symbiote costume part. It was a whole storyline on its own that eventually led into the Venom saga with Eddie Brock, sure... but that doesn't mean Raimi has to include that part. Heck, looks like he's running the storyline without even a nod to the continuity anyway. Can't say I blame him; hard to fit the Secret Wars into a flashback, I'd think. Venom would be enough for a whole 4th movie anyway.

Remember, the cartoon didn't get to the Seceret Wars until the end of the series. And they had the symbiote early in the series.

The toon had the symbiote attach to a ship piloted by John Jammeson. The same thing could happen here.

Sure, there's all sorts of ways they could introduce it. At this point, I just can't bring myself to care about "canonical" and "non-canonical," anyway. Marvel and DC have been jumping up and down on the equine corpse of causality for years, anyway.

According to the IMDB, Topher Grace is playing Eddie Brock/Venom. He's the guy in the trailer that says "Parker" while looking up.

Huh. I didn't even see that. Raimi's going to try and cram Venom into this, too?

... Topher Grace? As Eddie Brock? Umm, okay, maybe he DOES hate Venom, if this is where he's going. Topher... skinny little... as Eddie freakin' Brock? Brock's huge! Topher's... he's Eric Foreman, skinny little neighbor boy! Sheesh.

Here's the plot summery from the IMDB:

Harry Osborn's insanity drives him the edge and transforms him into the Green Goblin. In an effort to destroy Peter Parker he hires Flint Marko to aid him in his quest. Meanwhile Peter must balance his relationship with Mary Jane and the arrival of a new love interest, Gwen Stacy. The final showdown then pits former best friends against each other as a new villain looms on the horizon.

It's possible Venom himself won't show up until the end and then be a set up for the next movie. We shall see.

*watches the HD version of the trailer*

Some days it's good to have an OC-48 going to your office. This is one of them.

Thanks for posting that. :-)

Sam sure knows how to put together a trailer

I absolutely love 90% of this trailer, but there are a couple of things that I didn't like:

First thing I have to say was disappointing was GG 2, but this was not unexpected given the fact they seem committed to the awful GG look from the first film. Instead of Green Goblin 2, I'm calling him "Sk8tr G0bl1n" - tell me this (http://www.critterscave.us/GG2.jpg) shot doesn't seem like they motion-captured Tony Hawk or something! :)

The other (minor thing) - I HATE the way Peter and Gwen look in the "Dirty Dancing 3: Symbiote Nights" scene - Peter's hair is horrible and the "come hither" looks they try to give each other seem more uncomfortable than seductive...

However, everything else - Sandman's falling punch turning into a sand wave, Spidey in the bell tower, the symbiote crawling over the sleeping Peter - was awesome! I was skeptical for a bit when THC was announced as Sandy, but I'm totally hooked on the casting now (same thing happened when they announced J.K. Simmons as JJJ - was skeptical, but now I can't imagine anyone else! :) ), although a small part of me still wants to see Sandy's cornrows :)

I need to put up a counter - less than 11 months to go! :) :)

I actually agree with you, but given that this is Peter Parker we're talking about, it could be that they are, in the corresponding movie scene, really uncomfortable. :)

Seeing that on the big screen last night was better than the movie itself, I think.
