I'm not even sure who's gonna see this LJ post. Lots of people have already split, not just for the long weekend, but for the entire week. Good riddance, sez I -- I've got parking in front of my place at last. And the remaining neighbors, the non-student residents, all have grills. [snnnnffff HAHHHHHHHHH]

I have much cleaning to do the next several days. Much songwriting as well. Good ideas, good noise. My throat is trying to be good enough to sing, and I'm hopeful it will be there by tomorrow; I got some Zingerman's Tomato Garlic Soup to help it along today. :) (And a little lean corned beef, Swiss, and farmhouse Reggiano, just 'cuz.)

Tuesday, I'm gonna get some Zing's NC barbecue and relaaaaax.

Friday is InConJunction. We'll discuss that as we get closer.

What are your plans for the 4th? For the week?

Work at least a half-day (6-7 hours likely instead of the usual >8) Monday, off Tuesday (no plans), work the rest of the week.

My plans? I'm turning 40 on the 4th. Not doing much other than getting together with family. The 4th is a bit crowded for us; not only was I born on Independence Day, but both my little sister (35) and half-sister in law (18) share the day.

Other than that, I've got some reasding to catch up on, Giants games to watch, I need to do some planet design work, and I want to go see Superman Returns.

The 4th is a bit crowded for us

Fortunately, we're doing dinner with his family on the 3rd and breakfast with my family on the 4th.

One advantage to my temp assignment having ended on Friday (it was the end of the fiscal year, and all the temps were let go) is that [livejournal.com profile] gridlore and I get to spend Monday together as well as Tuesday (his job is closed on both days). And it's nice to have four days off in a row together that aren't occupied by a convention with one of us working and the other on panels.

My intent is to do a few computer music things over the next two days. Now that I've tried creating a couple of songs in Cubase LE with a combination of acoustic and MIDI tracks, I think it might be time to read the instructions. :-)

Also, I did a Band-in-a-Box 2006 upgrade and really want to play with the "Audio Harmonies" effect to see if it's even a little bit as interesting as the description.

We might set off some fireworks. It'll be easy to point them at the construction site next door. T Trek is next weekend, and looks like we'll be there. Pirates is coming out, and maybe I can drag a group to the movie after we close the art show.

It's our long weekend, too -- Dominion Day (modern: Canada Day) was yessterday, but we're easy on the exact day of celebration. Family dinner and fireworks tonight, I think ....

I am going to work on my house- decluttering, recycling, cleaning up, rearranging- stuff like that. And I am going to cook. I have 8 ears of fresh sweet corn that are going to become Maque Choux, and a nice beef tri-tip that is going to be grilled, along with other goodies.

I also plan to repot my monster-sized aloe vera plant. That ought to be fun...

Can't do much else- stuff I like to do costs money- including going to movies. I might go and spend some anyway- it's time to fix up the bathroom, and I have my eyes on a nice new shower curtain set.

Eh, this and that. I need to read some chem today, and I've got semi-substantial homework due on the 5th. Also, a quiz. But we're thinking about a little cookout today, and then on the 4th we'll go watch the Lake Union fireworks.

It will be very quiet here. Robert has been in the hospital since the 22nd. He's almost recovered from the surgery and should be out tomorrow. It's been a long week and a half.

Celebrating my birthday today; I have to work tomorrow & then the only thing I know of for sure is that we're going to my Mom's to watch fireworks. After that, it's full-bore preparations for InConJunction...

*HUGS* happy birthday...prehistoric internet connections aren't allowing me to put something on my OWN journal up, but thethought is there, and the insanity will be upon us all in a few short days.

Working all week. We have the Packard Collectors World Congress at the hotel all week. expecting over 200 vintage Packard autos and over 600 people. Going to have to spend the 4th itself out at the Packard Proving Grounds in Shelby Township. Have to haul equiptment out there, set it up and babysit it all day. YAWN. Must remember to take a book and the iPod.

Got people to cover for me on Friday so we can fo Toronto Trek, which I love. The art auction is fun, the people are great and the Ronald McDonald House Charity Auction is a major highlight of the year, go happy I can make it.

Work. I think. Not sure, as the bosses are out of town at the moment. If there's no work on Tuesday, I WILL make pasta salad and watch fireworks on the Mall. And try to find a copy of "1776," 'cause it's what I do on the 4th.

Being North Carliona born, wish I could get some Barbecue localy!! I jealous!! Do you get Eastern or Western style?

Eastern. Zing's got the recipe from Ed Mitchell in Wilson. (Apparently, Mr. Mitchell's own establishment has been closed for a year. Legal troubles of various types. But his BBQ is amazing.)

I can't decide whether to be more amazed that a non-native will voluntarily eat NC barbecue, or that someone outside of NC has heard of Wilson. *blinks*

Dangit, now I want barbecue.

Today: open house by friends, and then off with friends to Superman.

Week: Back after a week off, and my boss is out tomorrow, so I have a day to catch up on the 250 or so e-mails. Real work begis again on Wednesday, but at a summer's pace, I am sure.

July 4th: probably staying home and watching movies. The library has gotten in some great stuff we missed, starting with Million Dollar Baby and Good Night and Good Luck. I hope that have at least one of those tomorrow night.

Today - get the laundry done and basic weekly grocery junk at the store.
Tomorrow - me, my daughter, and a friend of mine and her 2 daughters will be piling in a van and going to the Children's Discovery Museum (http://www.childrensdiscoverymuseum.net/)
the 4th - whole lotta nothing and puttering around the house. Probably pulling wallpaper in the half-bath and washing down the walls to prep for paint. probably the traditional grilling of the shish-ke-bob...
5th - painting and "adults day off" (took the week off - kid going to daycare the last 3 days of the week)
6th - painting and linoleum the floor in half-bath.
7th - bask in the glow of a finished home improvement project and go see Pirates of the Carribean with the husband.

Rest of time plans? Relax! :)

Actually, I know my plans for the next couple of weeks now.... Any free time is being dedicated to finishing a CD for a hopeful Worldcon release date.

Its interesting when you are on deadline and toss in a new challenge to the audio software.. (Just started playing with multi track capabilities. (2 track, but its a challenge and fun.))

This weekend, prep for development handover to India, and attend that meeting tonight. This week, develop training material and make plans to travel to Austin ... maybe ... depending on what my managers fight out between them. The fourth? Grill some food and try to get some sleep for Wednesday.

*laugh* Same-old, same-old.

Yesterday: Laundry, lots and lots of laundry, and then some good BBQ for dinner.

Today: Burgers for lunch, hibachi for dinner, and a whole lot of trying (so far unsuccessfully) to reach my grandmother to wish her a happy 80th birthday.

Tomorrow: I'll be one of the few (perhaps the only) guy in the engineering department who didn't request a vacation day on Monday. Hopefully the boss lets us leave early.

The Fourth: I've got an invitation from the CEO's son to come over to their place and enjoy backyard BBQ and fireworks...sounds like fun.

The rest of the week will be business as usual, except for the whole Pirates thing next weekend.

Work, and work. And it's afternoon shift and poorly located relative to the windows, so I don't even get to see incidental fireworks. Le sigh. However, at least I get time and a half for Tuesday. Hell, at least I finally have a permanent job. Then on Sunday, I go on the midnight to eight shift. Woo. I may never see the sun again.

Yeah, the horrors. And they even come to town for the parties. Although I find it amusing that it's more convenient to have the 4th party on the 3rd, so I get to have the big birthday bash, and I didn't even have to do any work to get it ;)

starting my new job monday and blowing stuff up with my little cousins that evening, blowing more stuff up with friends on the fourth, and enjoying being off on wednesday. then more of the new job and finding the new disc of fullmetal alchemist for kane, and the possibility of pirates on saturday. today was spent at the kentucky highland festival (ren faire) and i took waaay too much sun. but i got to witness a musician completely rock out on a hammered dulcimer, so that was very much worth the slight spaciness and upset tummy of too much sunlight.
*hugs* feel better, sweetie.

I finally got a chance to stop in here, on the way back from visiting the Inlaws in central MS.

I was surprised it was open on July 4, but there was a really nice lady greeting visitors and pointing out the high points of the exhibits.

She also had a CD player behind her desk.
*I* had "Tom Smith's Digital Acoustic Compilation" in my roadmusic box.
I played her "A Boy and His Frog".

She wanted to know how to get in touch with you for getting a copy they could play intermittently as part of the displays.

I wrote down your website URL and my name, so if someone from the Leland MS chamber of commerce contacts you saying I sent them, they are for-real.

I also took some pictures of the displays, but I've only just got home and haven't unloaded the camera yet.
