Gotta work fast on this one. NBC is producing a live-action version of the Rankin-Bass animated The Year Without A Santa Claus.

Two roles haven't been cast yet.

Who would you cast as Heat Miser and Cold Miser?

Since we have no possibility of influencing the actual outcome, budget and contractual realities don't matter. My first choices, respectively, would be Wallace Shawn and Jude Law.

Jason Alexander as Heat Miser. Or maybe Nathan Lane.

Not sure for Cold Miser. I'm TRYING to picture someone, and it's not working...

Is Hollywood so completely devoid of new ideas that it has to start modernizing Claymation now? Are Davy and Goliath next? I shudder to think how THAT would be changed.

Before you know it, the big studios will start raiding our lockers of fanfics, zines and con-books.

Well, the Museum of TV and Radio is doing an Art Clokey retrospective this month, which includes Davey & Goliath as well as Gumby & Pokey... I don't know why someone on the production side of Christian media has not jumped on that "pre-existing franchise" bandwagon already. OK, you were just being sarcastic but that certainly aligns with current thought in the marketing field.

Arrgh, when did I get to be a marketing weasel? [slams ears in oven door]

Indeed he can. His version of "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" was one of the only good things about that misbegotten waste of celluloid, and also "Cuban Pete" from The Mask.

Nathan Lane. We know he can already sing bombastically, and Jason Alexander is an unknown quantity on that score.

Cold Miser is trickier, what with Danny Kaye and Doanld O'Connor being unfortunately dead.

Jim Carey would also be my choice for HeatMiser.

My choice for ColdMiser would definitely be Christopher Lee but he's another one I honestly don't know if I've ever heard sing or not. Though he is supposedly a Classically Trained Singer (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000489/bio)

You'll have to forgive me because I often don't bother to learn the real names of actors.

Cold Miser: the guy who played Sauraman in the movie (you'd think reading these books every year since I was 10 years old, I could remember how to spell the character's name, sheesh!!)

Heat Miser: the bad guy from "Fifth Element" with chocolate syrup on his forehead.

The stick figure version is very cool also - it gives me some interesting Flash ideas to play with - it is done so smoothly.

Jason Lee for the Heat Miser at least.

Yeah, I'm pretty much convinced that Walken can play damn near anything or anyone.
