The Casting Game
Jul. 6th, 2006 01:59 pmGotta work fast on this one. NBC is producing a live-action version of the Rankin-Bass animated The Year Without A Santa Claus.
Two roles haven't been cast yet.
Who would you cast as Heat Miser and Cold Miser?
Since we have no possibility of influencing the actual outcome, budget and contractual realities don't matter. My first choices, respectively, would be Wallace Shawn and Jude Law.

Date: 2006-07-06 08:33 pm (UTC)Cold Miser is trickier, what with Danny Kaye and Doanld O'Connor being unfortunately dead.

Date: 2006-07-07 04:21 am (UTC)I saw part of the video once and never again, and I looked for it! I kept MTV on for hours at a time just waiting for it to come on and never caught it. (Never thought of searching for it....)
The stick figure version is very cool also - it gives me some interesting Flash ideas to play with - it is done so smoothly.

Dead easy. Brent Spiner for Cold Miser, Kelsey Grammer for Heat Miser.

Date: 2006-07-06 10:40 pm (UTC)My choice for ColdMiser would definitely be Christopher Lee but he's another one I honestly don't know if I've ever heard sing or not. Though he is supposedly a Classically Trained Singer (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000489/bio)

Date: 2006-07-06 10:41 pm (UTC)I find it also odd that nobody has mentioned Robin Williams as HeatMiser. I think he'd easily be able to fill that role.

Date: 2006-07-06 10:09 pm (UTC)Cold Miser: Sean Hayes.
(no subject)
Date: 2006-07-06 11:14 pm (UTC)Cold Miser: the guy who played Sauraman in the movie (you'd think reading these books every year since I was 10 years old, I could remember how to spell the character's name, sheesh!!)
Heat Miser: the bad guy from "Fifth Element" with chocolate syrup on his forehead.

Date: 2006-07-07 07:53 am (UTC)Jason Lee for the Heat Miser at least.
Oooh, Christopher Walken would be a nifty Cold Miser!
Yeah, I'm pretty much convinced that Walken can play damn near anything or anyone.

Think of the Comedic hilarity that would ensue! You'd just have to do a fair makeup job and I can totally see it.
