Rush has really lost it.

Update: A small point -- Rush has lost a good deal of weight. Even when he was way larger then he should've been (something I know nothing at all about, nope nope nope), I objected to the fat jokes about him for the same reasons I object to the skinny jokes about Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin: that is really superficial, and in some cases not even the person's fault... and there are so, so many more and better reasons to despise them.

Rush ain't fat anymore... except in his head.

(blink) Okay, first off, let's see the evidence that backs up his attempt to claim that the rise in obesity is among the impoverished.

And secondly, Rush, old boy, you are definitely the pot calling the kettle black here, Big Boy. Did the government force your body to look like a grape on top of a watermelon? Hmm? Did you get as corpulent as you are eating government cheese? Did you manage to indulge yourself in Gluttony via WIC? Or perhaps you back up your claims that government money makes people fat by including all the kickbacks and payoffs you've been getting from the RNC? The rubber chicken dinners for which they pay?

Poor Rush. He doesn't have Republican interns filling his trough anymore, so he has to squeal and grunt until someone gives him enough of the taxpayers' money to buy oxycontin from overseas again. I'd feel sorry for him, except I have a conscience and a rational mind.

Well, the trouble is that the foods that are best for you are almost always the most expensive. When food wasn't generally available, the impoverished were too thin and starving. When there's lots of food, what food is easily gotten is the food that turns you into a lardass.

I'm not a statician but most of the really fat kids I see seem to be porking down on .99 MickeyD burgers and pretending that MickeyD salads, covered in sugary, fat-filled dressing is a healthy snack, while those well-enough off to feed properly are getting their fair share of fruits and veggies and leaner, better grade, meats. (But don't get me started on the subject of so-called better for you fat free meats.)

In any event, I still gotta wonder where Rush's head is at if he thinks you get butter out of cow blood.

Last time I checked, you don't get MickeyD's with food stamps. It's cheap, it's food of a sort, but it doesn't get paid for by WIC unless they have seriously altered the system.

We need more than simple recitation of percentages of kids who are +x above a certain Body Fat Index number. We need serious statisticians to do a little digging and show correlations here: kids who are obese who are under the poverty level, who are above that but still "low economic class," who are members of the middle class, and who are from wealthy families. I'm betting most of the Weeble candidates you see hogging it up at the House that Ronald Built are sitting roundly on the vague line between "need assistance but not poor enough to qualify" and "making enough money to get by."

There's also the issue that exercise equipment is a luxury. So, to many people, is having the time to exercise.

Or the time to learn to cook, or the budget for not-out-of-a-box meals.

Well, he is right about the weight thing. When his type of people were in charge, the poor never got any food and never had to worry about getting fat. True, they had to worry about surviving for another week, but they were thin.

So, if "the left" and the UN and food stamps and all of that lead to obesity, does that mean Rush's width is the result of being a closet liberal?

Well, isn't that the Bush way of doing things? Why milk a cow and get butter for years, when you could slaughter the cow once, make one batch of butter, then complain that it's the liberals fault that your dairy business is bankrupt from lack of cows?

This way of thinking goes a long way to explain why this adminstration does what it does.

What do you think happens to the calf that was born in order to get the cow to make milk? In many cases, these are slaughtered.

I doubt that is what Bush meant, however!

1. Of course, Rush can say this because he himself embodies the ideal in American physical attractiveness, health, and fitness available to those who, like him, make their own way without handouts.

2. The states with the highest obesity rates (Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia, Lousiana and Kentucky) are the most notorious cesspools of liberalism that can be found in the United States. In fact, you can't turn on right wing radio without hearing rants against ThoseDamnAlabamaLiberals, out of touch with real American values. The low obesity states (Colorado, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont) are, of course, known to be the most conservative, Republican states, with the most meager welfare programs of them all.

3. The way to get butter from a cow is to slaughter it. Bet you silly liberals never knew that. It takes real, authentic people like Rush, who grow and catch most of their own food (like most capitalists) to teach you basic anatomy and agriculture.

4. I missed the part where the UN food programs to hungry nations resulted in obesity rates that match or surpass even liberal Mississippi, but I'm sure there's data somewhere.

5. Yup, this is what happens when the government is run entirely by liberals.

LOL!

Heh-heh.

Heh.

Re: Rush -- speechless. When he veers off of the path where he can actually appear competent, extolling the virtues of smaller government (which his fellow Repbulicans have forgotten) or making fun of lefty excesses, you get stuff like this. But this is moronic even for him -- he's venturing into Coulter logic. Earlier commenters seem to have addressed all the important points on this one, especially the slaughter-for-butter nonsense (WTF? Cape Girardeau, Mo., isn't that big, he had to have visited at least one farm growing up)

Thanx for pointing out that Rush isn't a lardo these days. It makes commenters look behind the curve when they go on about him being overweight.

Speaking of which, I don't do skinny jokes on Coulter since I saw the cover of her latest book. Is it just me, or does she look like "Ana" Coulter? Aside from the much-remarked-on adams apple, there's the bones protruding that are a possible sign of an eating disorder (such snap diagnoses are quicker made by the public on Hollywood skinnies). Projecting the self-loathing that are symtomatic of anorexia or bulemia would explain to a degree her behavior and attitudes.

..... slaughter cow...to get butter.... THAT sums up what is wrong with republicans in a nutshell.

*headdesk*

No one obviously taught Rush that you have to NURTURE a cow to get butter. And that the better quality the food, and the more appropriate the food for the cow, the higher quality the butter is.

Goddamned cow-slaughtering republicans.

And y'know, the fact that he has lost that weight gives him that much less excuse. Does anyone at this point honestly not know that the problem is that crappy, fattening food is cheap, and eating healthy costs a fortune?

Then again, I wouldn't think there's anyone who doesn't know you get butter by MILKING cows, not slaughtering them. But Rush apparently believes there is.

I will go to my grave without understanding how so many people can listen to a man who so transparently thinks his audience is composed entirely of morons.

So, does that mean we get margerine from skinny cows?

And I guess really light, fluffy, butter comes from calfs, sort of dairy veal.

So what is REALLY in those old style butter churns? Damn, that must have been a lot of hard work. I bet Ye Olde Farmers were pissed when they came home and found some bones or gristle in their butter 'cause their wives hadn't ground them down enough.

Though this DOES explain how Sambo got the tigers to turn into butter, something which has bothered me since I was three.

I have learned something new...

(And you can't really say 'He meant to say milked', since he went from one synonym for 'killed' to another.)
