Are you the least bit surprised?

I agree with the first comment--he means that all that's happened will seem like just a comma after he's through making it worse in ways you can't even fathom. Yet.

Give Bush credit where credit is due. History books will view Iraq as a comma in certain contexts.

George W. Bush,(<-- there is the Iraq reference) the worst president ever,(<-- there is the domestic fuck-up reference) was a big fuck-up.

I'm thinking he meant to say footnote, not comma, but you know how is grasp of the English language is. The effect is the same, though.

I *really* liked that comment about making a contrast video showing Clinton vs Bush when challenged (turning it into some organization's 537 ad) but I fear it would only appeal to us who already have some idea what's going on, and merely frighten everybody else who let the neocons talk them into buying this mess.

Or better yet, show the video of Bush attempting to intimidate Matt Lauer then Clinton running over whatshisname from Faux News.

Imagine a President who can intimidate with words instead of (trying) to do it physically.

Yes, I like to be considerate and ask first.
I'd be delighted to contribute to crashing servers by sending this link all over the net.

Thank you for your comments.
Even better than the link, cut & paste the text provided on the page to embed the video. I've enabled it so that you can.
I've spent three months building up a kidly, love-all-comers persona on you-tube...only to throw it away on hating this Evul Monkey-man.
You are welcome to promulgate at will.

This looks like a perfect illustration of how his administration seems to think: We have this ideology, we know it's right, and any inconvenient "facts" that challenge our ideology are just temporary stumbling blocks. We know that these things will change very soon, because we know that we are right.

If they had approached their term thinking, "We have an idea, and we'd like to test out this idea and see if it works, and if it doesn't then we can modify our idea and find some method that does work", then we wouldn't be in this mess. As long as they remain convinced beyond all else that they are right, they can't even consider change.

Well, in maybe a hundred years, sixth graders willl be asking why we need to know Chimpy's name, or what quagmire he deserted us in. In that sense, it's a comma...

I think he meant footnote. As in "In a thousand years, when the history of the region is written, this conflict will be little more than a footnote."

It'll be written in English, of course - all the native culture will be gone. If you doubt me, you remember the idea that the Iraquis would be able to choose their own form of government? I read the thing that said that - they can choose anything they want, as long as it's an elected democracy.

I wonder what horrific sin our nation has committed to get such a dangerous moron as President.

Frankly, I wonder that about any administration. Few politicians above the school board level retain any shred of dignity, character or integrity, I've found. Buncha liars, crooks, maniacs, morons, and robber barons.

Tom Smith for President!

Like the title says. I loath the Mid terms and wonder how the neo-cons that should be cons will steal this election. Frankly, any place that uses electronic voting machines cannot be trusted.

Bush and his cronies have no respect for human life, or anything else for that matter than does not make them rich(er).

In order to make you feel REALLY safe:

Diebold also makes ATMs.

I always use that as an example of how suspicious voting machines are. ATMs have paper trails, they _must_ have paper trails, no bank would even touch them unless they had a secure paper trail. Yet the voting machines don't have paper trails, and Diebold says they're not important and can't be installed anyway because it would conflict with the voting program.

That pretty much says it all right there.

Oh, forgot to mention...if this part of history is a comma, can we be safe to assume that Bush is a colon? Or a semi-colon, meaning half the colon? (And guess which half of the colon he is.)

Exactly. Shoot, if it wasn't for the fact that he's (sadly) fictional, I'd suggest we'd send Brock Samson to the Middle East, and he'd clean up this mess in about a week or two.

Was that a noise?

Over at Pandagon, they figure it's a dog whistle: a coded phrase to the base that flys over the heads of the rest of us... Operating theory is that he's refering to the Aphorism: “Never put a period where God has put a comma.”

Link to Pandagon, who got it from Agonist: http://pandagon.net/2006/09/26/that-was-when-you-were-riding-embedded-my-child/

Darn straight it's creepy...

It's sort of like when Bush talked about the Dred Scott decision... the rational part of America went 'wha...?', but the anti-choice crowd, they heard the whistle... it was code for dismantling Roe v. Wade.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dred_Scott_v._Sandford, under 'Later References', and the References at the end.

...and watch what' you're saying about Equines... =)
