Here's the direct link to the site that lists the top songs. You select the year yourself. ^_^

You know, it's not worth it. I went through the songs that were current the year I turned 18, and there are exactly 2 I'm fond of - and those two I adore. Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, by Gordon Lightfoot, and Still Crazy After All These Years by Paul Simon. What can I say - 1976 was not a banner year musically.

Well, maybe not, but it did have "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, "Dream On" by Aerosmith, "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult, and "One Piece At A Time" by Johnny Cash....

Point, set and match, my dear. Somehow I missed seeing those on the list. On the other hand, it had Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach", which was an utter waste of airtime.

Um, Madonna was 1986, not 1976.

Ok...I ended up at '86 first. I think I wasn't paying a hell of a lot of attention - pop music didn't really beomce a thing I noticed until I started dating my husband.

huh?

Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" came out in 1986. The aforementioned came out in 1976. Slight one-decade difference there...

It's a little unnerving, how few of the songs from that year I recall with any clarity.

Well, a fair number of them weren't written to be remembered. They were written to be danced to.

Hmm, I don't remember most of those songs at all, but I think the Canadian music charts are likely some different to the US musical charts. :)

I think I won't post the whole thing, but if you skim, looks like I was born in a pretty good year. :)
