First one of 2007. I owe a debt of gratitude to Anne, who pointed out a post I'd missed by [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, linking to an essay by [livejournal.com profile] brni. Thanks to you all.

I wonder if [livejournal.com profile] brni is a comic book fan. Through the last six years, there've come onto the scene a number of comics that don't follow the usual formula of "hero fooled by villiain, villain almost achieves the goal of the week, hero manages a miraculous save right at the buzzer." There are comics like "Powers," just to name one of the sparkling examples of a tale that examines the social and legal ramifications of a world where the gods fly above our very streets and wear their underwear on the outside.

Oh, I *love* the ending to that song. And the subject matter is indeed not covered enough. Well done, sir, well done!

Very cute! I always do wonder who pays for the damage after a superhero fight...

This is quite awesome. I like the idea and your application of it.

...

I wish you had gone farther with it.

f'r'nstance
- More description of the battle where the dragon flames missed the k'niggit and burnt a still smoking hole in the ground
- The village or king's court where the little bitty farmer is dealing with hizzoner who happens to be the uncle of aforementioned k'niggit (where a witness for the farmer is Big Scaley.
- an illusration of the difference in wealth between and so forth

But really. I like this one.

A little too complex for a quick comedy song. Although the wealth differences actually are part of the point of the song -- I think I imply that the sale of the knight's suit of armor will pay not only for the restoration of a hut and a forty-seven-acre farm and new animals, but also a wedding....

Good day, sir. It's taken me some year.25 to get around to it, but I've finally put Suit of Armor to prose. If you are interested, Than A Peasant Scorned is posted with attribution at http://brni.livejournal.com/307407.html
